Dutch banking institution Rabobank said it has no plans to dismantle its cash machines on a wide-scale basis after robbers made two separate attempts to use explosives to break into the bank's ATMs early Monday morning. Just last week, police said that other banks' cash machines would be targeted more frequently after ABN Amro decided to remove 470 of its own ATMs across the country.
Police in the Netherlands announced on Monday the arrest of a 25-year-old Rotterdam man in connection with the discovery of 2,019 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Antwerp in Belgium. The arrest took place weeks ago on November 27 after the cocaine was found in a sea container by Belgian customs officials, Dutch police said.
The cocaine was found in a shipment of fertilizer that originated in Colombia. The container was destined for the Netherlands.
A soaking wet train passenger and two others suffering from symptoms of hypothermia prompted an emergency response to Venlo, Limburg. One man had fallen into water in Eindhoven, and was pulled out by two others, a spokesperson for the fire department told AD. All three men are from Tanzania, and were taken to an area hospital for medical care, the police said in a separate statement.
A suspicious package was found in the arrival hall of Eindhoven Airport on Monday morning. The Ministry of Defense's explosive removal department is at the scene to investigate, the Oost-Brabant police and the Koninklijke Marechaussee said on Twitter.
The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport security, confirmed the Defense experts' arrival at the airport at 10:57 a.m.
Part of the arrival hall is cordoned off to keep travelers at a safe distance.
The number of cows, bulls and calves in the Netherlands decreased by 3 percent this year to 3.8 million, Statistics Netherlands reported on Friday based on the provisional figures from the Agricultural Census. Both men and women in the Netherlands have grown heavier and slightly taller since 1981, according to Statistics Netherlands' health survey. Between 1981 and 2018, men on average grew 3.8 centimeters taller and 9 kilograms heavier, while women grew 1.5 centimeters taller and 7 kilograms heavier.

A possible explosion at a block of flats in Eindhoven has left residents shaken and concerned for their safety. Police told NL Times the apparent blast during the early morning hours on Saturday could have been caused by a heavy explosive, like a hand grenade or a Cobra-6 firework, but an initial investigation was inconclusive.
The body of a man was found in a drug lab in Den Dungen, a village near Den Bosch, during the early hours of Friday morning. The police believe the man died when something went wrong while he was producing drugs, the Oost-Brabant police said on Twitter. Authorities later stated the victim was killed in an explosion.
The last half of this week will be considerably warmer than what is usual for this time of year, according to Weeronline. Many places in the south of the country will see maximums climb to 20 degrees on Thursday, while high temperatures are usually around 13 degrees late in October.

The 47-year-old Dutch man wanted in connection with the strangulation of a young Romanian girl killed himself in a car wreck on Monday. Police in the East-Brabant district of the Netherlands confirm to NL Times that the man suspected by Romanian authorities drove his car into oncoming traffic, striking a lorry in a head-on collision.
A woman was stabbed in front of her home in the Noord-Brabant village of Zijtaart on Monday morning. The suspect fled the scene and is still at large, the Oost-Brabant police said on Twitter.
The stabbing happened at the woman's home on Pastoor Kampstraat at around 8:15 a.m. The woman was "seriously hurt", a police spokesperson said to Omroep Brabant. She was rushed to the hospital.
The police believe the motive for the stabbing is in the "relationship sphere". "We know in what direction we have to search", the police spokesperson said to the broadcaster.
Six young people were hospitalized on Sunday evening after they used ecstasy at youth care institution De La Salle in Boxtel. "One of them is in bad shape", the Oost-Brabant police said on Twitter.
Ambulances were deployed to the youth care institution at around 7:30 p.m. when the first of the group of young people became unwell. They were rushed to a hospital in the area. The police are investigating where they got the drugs.
The 21-year-old driver who authorities say rammed a crowd of people with his car was accused in court of attempted manslaughter. Five people in total were hospitalized as a result of the violence that took place during the awards ceremony at an autocross event five days ago in Leende, Noord-Brabant.
“Completely innocent visitors fell victim to a totally idiotic action on Sunday,” the prosecutor said in a statement.
Four political parties have teamed up on a proposal to reduce the highway speed limit in Den Haag to 80 kilometers per hour. The parties, including the city’s governing coalition members GroenLinks and D66, have also called for a ban on older diesel vehicles and an expansion of the city’s environmental zones.
The rule changes also have the backing of the animal rights party PvdD and the Christian party bloc CU/SGP. Together the four groups represent 20 of the city’s 45 council seats.
Two boys, aged 6 and 9, were killed in a house fire in Strijbeek, Noord-Brabant, during the early hours of Sunday morning. Two adults were injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the police found no indication of a crime or negligence, a police spokesperson said to RTL Nieuws.
