The number of accidents on Dutch highways increased significantly over the past years, according to figures from incident management foundation IMN. On Wednesday night the police prevented a helicopter hijacking in Limburg. According to a statement released by the police, criminals from the Amsterdam underworld wanted to use this helicopter to break a convict out of the penitentiary in Roermond. During the police intervention in Roosteren, one suspect was shot by a member of a SWAT team. He died of his injuries. Three others were arrested.
Six people were arrested in connection with a large investigation into organized cannabis cultivation in Noord-Brabant on Monday. The police also searched 16 properties in Tilburg, Goirle, Eindhoven and Kaatsheuvel.

A 35-year-old man from Eindhoven was gunned down while sitting in a car on Johannes Klingenstraat in Best on Thursday night. He died at the scene.
