The street-level assassination of 60-year old Beyhan Demirci, who was shot while standing on her balcony, is possibly a case of mistaken identity, police revealed on Tuesday. The victim was shot by unidentified assailants standing on the street below in Amsterdam Nieuw-West on January 14th.

The PVV departments in Flevoland, Zeeland, Noord-Brabant, Zuid-Holland, and Noord-Holland have removed the headscarf ban for civil servants from their election programs. In 2011 they still stated that officials, State members and deputies were not welcome in the Province House if they arrive with a headscarf. Now that point has disappeared.

Police investigating the murder of mental clinic director Rob Zeekhorst believe the case is linked to another homicide three months later. Zeekhorst was shot on January 1st 2014 while out walking dogs in his neighborhood.

The 45-year-old is accused of selling 300,000 kilos of horse meat labeled as beef from 2011 to 2013.

Brabant-oost police prevented a large batch of heavy weaponry from entering the Netherlands in a joint operation with Croatian police. Three were arrested including a 64-year-old Dutchman with six rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, Kalashnikov rifles, handguns, grenades and ammunition in his van.

Schiphol Airport welcomed a record number of 55 million passengers in 2014, according to Schiphol Group CEO Jos Nijhuis. The preliminary figures, released Monday, demonstrate an increase of 4.6 percent. The CEO is also expecting a slight growth in both passenger numbers and freight in 2015 as well.

A burglar in Breda gave elementary school students an unpleasant start to the new year by stealing 52 tablet computers designed for the school's e-learning programme. A salt truck driver finishing up his shift in Roosendaal was robbed at knifepoint early Sunday morning. The driver had jumped out of his truck to unlock a pole meant to limit access to a driveway when three offenders jumped him demanding money.

An elderly couple were stripped of tens of thousands of euros in cash during a daytime robbery at a Tilburg park. They were pulling the stack of money in a blue shopping trolley through Reeshofpark when they were jumped by two unknown assailants, police said in a statement.

A motorcycle police officer attempting an arrest on Sunday was beaten by the suspect and four accomplices, leaving the policeman with a fractured eye socket. The incident happened on the Rechtestraat in Eindhoven at about 8:30 p.m., a police report states.
