Dutch exports to Australia and New Zealand increased significantly over the past years, Statistics Netherlands announced at the start of the Dutch state visit to the two countire.s Since 2010 the number of Dutch companies exporting to the two countries roughly doubled.

The Netherlands was on of 16 countries that abstained on voting on United Nations negotiations on an international nuclear weapons ban. The negotiations will start next year - 123 countries voted for talks on nuclear disarmament and 38 countries voted against, NOS reports.

A total of 840 people tried to illegally cross from the Netherlands over to Britain between January and September this year, according to figures the Ministry of Security and Justice released on Tuesday. That number is already much higher than in all of 2015, when a total of around 500 stowaways were caught, ANP reports.

At least 80 people were killed when a truck drove into a crowd of people on a boulevard in the French city of Nice on Thursday night. The attack is being considered an act of terrorism. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte is horrified by the attack. Minister of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders described it as a "cruel crime against humanity" in a comment on Twitter.
