The police launched an investigation into possible sexual abuse at care foundation Dichterbij. There are suspicions that two groups of disabled children and young adults were seriously abused, neglected and sexually molested for months, the Telegraaf reports.

The baby had several broken bones and eventually died from the effects of an intestinal perforation. According to the doctors who examined the baby's body, that was caused by a hard punch in the stomach.
The father of 8-year-old Sharleyne Remouchamps is holding the municipality of Hoogeveen accountable for his daughter's death. He feels the city is guilty of negligence because the youth services failed to intervene in his daughter's case, despite several signals that this was necessary. A seriously injured 12-year old girl from Roelofarendsveen, Zuid-Holland, who was taken to a hospital last week, was abused for years by her father and stepmother, according to the family's neighbors, an Omroepwest.nl report reveals. Both are suspected of abuse and neglect and are being held in custody. The father will face a magistrate on Friday.
