Dutch journalist Okke Ornstein is in custody in Panama, Dutch journalists' association NVJ announced on Villamedia on Sunday. He was arrested on Tuesday last week when he entered Panama because of articles on his blog Bananama Republic in which he criticized Canadian businessman Monte Friesner, who lives in Panama.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima commemmorated the victims of flight MH17 by visiting the Australian monument for the victims in Canberra with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. They placed sunflowers at the monument commemorating the 38 Australians killed in the airline disaster in Ukraine, NU.nl reports.

The monument is located at the Australian Parliament in Canberra. Ministers of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders and Julie Bishop also laid flowers at the monument.

The government needs more time to find a solution on what to do about the problems resulting after the Netherlands voted against ratifying an association agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister Bert Koenders of Foreign Affairs wrote to parliament on Monday, NU.nl reports.

This letter comes just a day before the deadline parliament set the government for making a decision. The Ministers call it "in the national interest" that more time is taken to find a suitable solution.

The Dutch government is running out of time for finding a solution on what to do about ratifying the associatioin agreement between the European Union and Ukraine. The deadline is November 1st. And it doesn't seem likely that a decision will be made on Friday, NU.nl reports.

"Today and in the coming days we are considerably going to talk about it", Minsiter Bert Koenders said, according to NU. "We still have a few days. We'll try to find a solution to the last moment."

Ministers Bert Koenders of Foreign Affairs and Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice are working on getting kidnapped toddler Insiya Hemani back home. They are working through the embassy in India to try and get the 2-year-old girl back to the Netherlands, NOS reports.

"The most important thing isthat we manage to bring her back", Koenders said to the broadcaster. "It is a terrible case in which excessive violence was used,  also in the Netherlands. Van der Steur called it a terrible tragedy. In the interest of the case, the minsters can't say more.

A 20-year-old Dutch woman and a 24-year-old German were killed in a traffic accident in Australia. Two other Dutch women survived the crash, but were injured, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to newspaper AD on Sunday.

The accident happened near Pardoo, in western Australia, on Saturday. The car went off the road and rolled. The four passengers were on holiday together in Australia. 

The other two Dutch women in the car, age 20 and 21 years old, were injured. According to the West Australian, they are in critical, but stable condition.

A 23-year-old woman from Tilburg was killed when she ended up under a train at the Lempuyangan train station in Yogyakarta on the Indonesian island of Java. Local media identifies the victim as Denise Pronk from Tilburg, AD reports.

The young woman was hit by a train while she was trying to cross the tracks. She died on the spot. According to Indonesian media, she was traveling with another Dutch person.

The Indonesian police are investigating what happened. The woman’s body was transferred to the Dr. Sarjito hospital in Yogakarta.
