A 27-year-old woman from the Netherlands died in the Australian city of Melbourne on Sunday after she was hit by a car. According to the Australian police, the car was stolen a week ago. The driver fled the scene of the accident, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to NU.nl.

The woman was cycling when the car hit her. The car also hit various other vehicles, but the Dutch victim was the only person who got hurt. Emergency services tried to save her, but it was to no avail. She died at the scene.

As far as is known, no Dutch were killed in a severe earthquake that hit the Indonesian island of Lombok on Sunday. Some Dutch were injured, but their injuries are not serious, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said to RTL Nieuws.

Two Dutch were killed in accidents abroad on Friday. A Dutch woman died in the west of Canada after she fell into a river. And a Dutch man died in Croatia after falling from a wall, ANP reports.

The victim in Canada is a woman of around 60 years old. According to local media, her husband stated that she slipped while trying to grab an apple and disappeared under water. A search was launched for the woman, and her body was found in the river by rescue workers a few hours later. A Dutch-speaking police officer and the Dutch consulate provided assistance for the victim's husband.

Wilma Kippers from Wierden was killed in an accident with a quad bike on the Greek island of Santorini on Tuesday. The 26-year-old woman was on vacation on the island with a friend. The two had hired a quad bike shortly before the accident, De Gelderlander reports.

Two Dutch women and a 6-year-old Dutch boy were killed in a shooting in an apartment in New York on Tuesday. The perpetrator was also killed.

The victims are 47-year-old Linda Olthof from Deventer, her young son Jimmy, and a 38-year-old Dutch woman, AD reports. They were shot and killed by American man James Shields, Linda's ex husband. The other victim was his current wife. According to the newspaper, the police believe that Shields shot his son and the two women, and then committed suicide.

Four bicycle tourists were killed and three were injured in a traffic accident in Tajikistan, in Central Asia. Among the dead is a 56-year-old Dutch man, and his 58-year-old wife was wounded, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NOS reports.

The other three tourists killed are two Americans and a Swiss, a spokesperson for the Tajik Ministry of Home Affairs said to the broadcaster.

The missing 19-year-old Anouk van Luijk was found alive on Cuba and reunited with her parents. She is doing well under the circumstances, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, RTL Nieuws reports.

The Ministry would not say what happened to the young Dutch woman, or where she's been over the past days, for privacy reasons.

The Surinamese government is not satisfied with a letter of apology that Minister Stef Blok of Foreign Affairs sent after he called Suriname a 'failed state'. Blok's Surinamese counterpart Yldiz Pollack-Beighle calls Blok's apologies "poor" because he "does not take back the inaccuracies he voiced at a closed meeting", NOS reports.

Anouk van Luijk has been missing on Cuba for several days. The 19-year-old woman from Hellevoetsluis was supposed to fly back to the Netherlands on Saturday, but never showed up for her flight. Her family hasn't heard from her since Saturday, her father Wim van Luijk said in a Facebook post, that has since been shared nearly 8 thousand times.

A 34-year-old Dutch tourist died after being beaten up by a group of five young people near Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The Spanish police are investigating this as a murder and are looking for the perpetrators, ANP reports.

The Dutch tourist was attacked and beaten unconscious near a petrol station to the north of the city's airport at around 5:00 a.m. on Friday. Emergency workers rushed the victim to the Academic Hospital Son Espases, where the he died of his injuries.

It is expected that later this year a decision will be made about the early release of Dutch-Surinamese man Jaitsen Singh, who has been in prison in the United States for 34 years. There is a chance that he was unjustly convicted of the murders of his wife and daughter, ANP reports.

Minister Stef Blok of Foreign Affairs said that the Netherlands expressed its support for an early release on humanitarian grounds. Singh is getting consular assistance from the Netherlands.

Two Dutch people were killed in a traffic accident in the United States state of Oregon, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. A third person in the car with them also died. His nationality has not yet been confirmed, NOS reports.

The three people were driving near the town of Salem when their car was hit from behind by a pick-up truck. They then crashed into another car. 

According to KATU News, the accident happened on Thursday. The victims died from their injuries over the weekend.
