A Venlo man who found a grenade on Wednesday evening was instructed by the emergency services not to move after he encountered the explosive, according to his girlfriend. "When he called the emergency services, they said that he had to hold on to the grenade and not move. At one point he just lay down", she said to L1.
Some 120 people were evacuated on Veestraat in Venlo during the early hours of Thursday morning due to a grenade. One resident lay down on the grenade to keep it from causing too much damage if it exploded, according to the fire department. Defense's explosive disposal department later concluded that the grenade no longer contained any explosive material, NU.nl reports.
Multiple homes on Slotermeerlaan in Amsterdam were evacuated on Friday morning after an ATM bombing. Perpetrators blew open a GWK ATM at around 5:00 a.m. Whether they got away with any cash is not yet clear, AT5 reports.
The bombing caused a large amount of damage. Windows of nearby buildings were shattered, and fragments of the ATM were found on the other side of the street.
