The European Union must do more to stop the undocumented migration of asylum seekers through Europe, State Secretary Mark Harbers wrote in a letter to the European Commission, the Telegraaf reports.

The government considers it a major problem that asylum seekers can freely travel virtually anywhere through Europe to get to the country where they want to apply for asylum. Because of this, the Netherlands is getting a disproportionate number of asylum seekers, Harbers said to the newspaper.

Four in ten Dutch use the same password for multiple online services, such as email, social media and online banking, according to a survey commissioned by the Ministry of Justice and Security. One in five said they use the same password for more than 10 different accounts, NU.nl reports.

One such measure is to oblige suspects of violent- or sex crimes to attend their trial and listen to the victims should they choose to speak, NOS reports.

Around 30 asylum seekers came to the Netherlands with a stolen, blank passport in 2015 and 2016, NRC reports based on figures from the Ministry of Justice and Security.

According to the security services, terrorist organizations like ISIS often give such passports to their fighters to carry out attacks abroad. The police and security service AIVD investigated each of the 30 asylum seekers who arrived in the Netherlands with a blank passport, and none of them were identified as a threat to security, according to the newspaper.

The mayors of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague want the government to hurry up and make a decision on banning firecrackers and firework rockets, Hague mayor Pauline Krikke wrote in a letter on behalf of her colleagues.

The letter is addressed to Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security and State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven of Infrastructure and Water Management, NOS reports.

Last year over a million fines were issued to drivers speeding on the A2 and A12 highways between Amsterdam and Utrecht, according to an overview from the Ministry of Justice and Security, NOS reports.

Motorists were 'flashed' on the A2 between Amsterdam and Utrecht 650 thousand times, and on the A12 near Utrecht over 413 thousand times. Third place for most speeding tickets went to the A4 at Leidschendam, where speeding cameras caught motorists driving too fast 250 thousand times.

Today is the Rutte III government's 100th day in office. Yet many of the ministers in the government are still just as unknown to the Dutch public as when they took office, according to a study by Kantar Public, BNR reports.

The most anonymous members of the Rutte III government are Ingrid van Engelshoven, Minister of Education, Culture and Science, and Minister Bruno Bruins for Medical Care and Sports. Only 7 percent of respondents knew who they are. Hugo de Jonge, Minster of Public Health, Welfare and Sports, did slightly better with 12 percent of respondents knowing who he is.

The Dutch immigration and naturalization service IND received a document from the Dutch embassy in Rwanda that may prove that a Rwandan refugee who received Dutch nationality in 2006 was involved in genocide in his home country in 1994. State Secretary Mark Harbers of Justice and Security is working on revoking the man's Dutch nationality, AD reports.

The man in question, 62-year-old Jean-Baptiste N., came to the Netherlands as an asylum seeker in 1999. He received Dutch nationality in 2006. He's been living and working in the Eindhoven region for years.

After his acquittal by the Argentinian court on Wednesday, former Transavia pilot Julio Poch is considering suing the Dutch and Argentinian States, his lawyer Geert Jan Knoops said to the Volkskrant. Poch was acquitted of involvement in so-called death flights during the military dictatorship in Argentina between 1976 and 1983. He was arrested in Spain in 2009 after a tip from the Dutch judiciary and extradited to Argentina, where he spent eight years in custody before his acquittal.
