King Willem-Alexander has no shares in companies that have the 'Royal' predicate, according to a message that appeared on the Koninklijk Huis website on Thursday. This implies that the King does not own shares in Shell, which has seen lots of negative publicity in the Netherlands and abroad over the past years, ANP reports.

Dutch citizens with dual nationality must lose their voting rights and must not be eligible for political positions in the Netherlands, according to PVV leader Geert Wilders. This is in the interests of "the Netherlands' survival", he said in an interview with the Telegraaf.

"The Netherlands is our country. It must be run by Dutch, who are elected by Dutch. By Dutch wo do not even have the appearance of double loyalty", he said to the newspaper.

Princess Amalia wants to finish her secondary school studies in China. The 14-year-old crown princess of the Netherlands plans to attend UWC Changshu from next year - a sister school to the Atlantic College in Wales, that King Willem-Alexander attended for two years in the 80's, the Telegraaf reports.

Government information service Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst would not comment on this rumor to the newspaper on Wednesday. But on Thursday a message in Dutch suddenly appeared on the UWC Changshu website, stating that "the registration for the school years 2018-2020 is closed".

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are dropping in for tea with Chinese president Xi Jinping in Beijing on Wednesday on their way to the opening of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Prime Minister Mark Rutte will lead an official visit to China in April, sources told the Telegraaf on Wednesday.

The Dutch King will spend only one day in China before traveling to South Korea for the Olympic Winter Games, NOS reports. Queen Maxima still has some appointments in China on Thursday.

Queen Maxima and Prime Minister Mark Rutte will head the Dutch delegation to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The theme for this 48th edition of the WEF, taking place from Tuesday to Thursday, is 'Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World'.

Other cabinet members taking part in the forum are Minister Halbe Zijlstra of Foreign Affairs, Minister Sigrid Kaag of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Minister Wopke Hoekstra of Finance, and Minister Bruno Bruins of Medical Care and Sport.

Princess Amalia, the oldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima and the future queen of the Netherlands, is celebrating her 14th birthday today.

For the princess, today will be a normal Thursday, according to RTL Nieuws. She attends the Christelijk Gymnasium Sorghvliet in The Hague, where she is in her third year.

State Secretary Raymond Knops of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations is currently paying a visit to Sint Maarten. "My commitment is focused on restoring relations with the Netherlands in order to ensure that the path is paved for reconstruction. The resignation of the prime minister ensured that we can moved forward and that we can help Sint Maarten further", he said to NU.nl from the island.

Queen Maxima paid a visit to the Hofstad Lyceum in The Hague on Wednesday morning to talk to pupils about the acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersexual classmates. She also spoke with LGBTI students and representatives of LGBTI interest organization COC, NOS reports.

The COC representatives explained the situation LGBTI students face in schools and in general. And students showed the Queen actions they plan to take against bullying.

"Amsterdam is crying for its beloved mayor and all of the Netherlands is grieving", Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on Facebook in reaction to the death of Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan. He passed away on Thursday at the age of 62. The Dutch King and Queen, numerous politicians, the Amsterdam police, and Amsterdam's football team Ajax all responded to news of his death with shock and sadness.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will pay a visit to the Eemland region on October 24th. The Eem river basin will stand central during this visit. Villages and cities of different size and character are dealing with changes in this area, AD reports.

In Eemland, the population is increasing and the city of Amersfoort is expanding to the country side.  The region is facing economic and social challenges provided by agriculture and industry.

Avid fans of the Dutch Royals braved the early morning cold and mist to make sure they have a good spot along the route the Dutch King and Queen will take from Noordeinde Palace to the Ridderzaal in The Hague for Budget Day. The first spectators arrived at the palace at 6:30 a.m on Tuesday, according to ANP.

Today is the last Budget Day for the departing Rutte II cabinet. In tradition and ceremony, the day is expected to look like every other Budget Day, with politicians decked out in fancy hats, the Royals arriving at the Ridderzaal in The Hague in a carriage and the famous balcony scene after the throne speech. But given the current VVD and PvdA government's departing status, no big news is expected in the budget. Big changes are left up to the new government.

Princess Alexia went to her first day of high school on an old-school Dutch bicycle on Monday. As he did with her older sister Amalia two years ago, King Willem-Alexander recorded a video of his middle-child leaving for school and the Koninklijk Huis posted it on social media.

Jorge Zorreguieta, Queen Maxima's father, passed away at the age of 89 in the Fundaleu clinic in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, the Dutch King and Queen confirmed "with great sadness" in a statement. Zorreguieta had been suffering from a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for a long time.

Zorreguieta had been seriously ill for several years, according to Het Parool. In November 2014 he was also admitted to the Fundaleu clinic in serious condition. However he recovered and was even in the Netherlands for King Willem-Alexander's birthday in April.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima officially opened the National Monument for the victims of flight MH17 during the memorial service on the third anniversary of the disaster on Monday afternoon. The monument is located in Vijfhuizen Park next to Schiphol Airport, where MH17 took off on July 17th, 2014.

The memorial on the third anniversary of the MH17 disaster started at 2:00 p.m. at the site of the National MH17 Monument in Park Vijfhuizen, next to Schiphol airport. The search for the perpetrators behind MH17's downing continues, but finding a way to move on is just as important, Evert van Zijtveld said on behalf of the survivors' foundation Vliegramp MH17, according to AD's live blog of the memorial.

The MH17 National Monument in Vijfhuizen will be unveiled at the memorial of the disaster on Monday afternoon. Exactly three years ago today Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people aboard, including 196 Dutch.

A worker with a full time job and a modal salary that has debt problems, could cost an employer up to 13 thousand euros per year, the report states, according to NU.nl.

King Willem-Alexander is proud of the way in which the Netherlands sheltered 65 thousand asylum seekers that flooded into the country since 2015, he said in an interview with Italian newspaper La Republica. He is proud to say that not one asylum seeker had to sleep on the street, the Telegraaf reports.

The Dutch King called the Netherlands a school example of a multicultural society, and Amsterdam the capital of tolerance. He added that the Netherlands has been sheltering people from all over the world for centuries.

Queen Maxima is celebrating her 46th birthday today. Unlike the King, Maxima does not get a public holiday for her birthday. But there are no official duties listed on the Royal House agenda for her today, which means she can celebrate her birthday at home with her family, AD reports.

Thursday is back to work. The royal couple is handing out prizes for the Oranje Fund tomorrow for initiatives that connect different groups of people and inspire others.

The Dutch public is more supportive of the monarchy this year. 70 percent of Dutch now say they are behind monarchy, compared to a low point of 65 percent last year, according to NOS' annual King's Day Survey performed by Ipsos. The increased support for the monarchy coincides with a slight increase in trust in King Willem-Alexander, NOS reports.
