Working with anti-Islam party PVV in his first cabinet was the biggest mistake Prime Minister Mark Rutte made in his career, Rutte said on television program WNL on Sunday.

Rutte added that he isn't saying he never should have done that "experiment", according to RTL Nieuws. "If the party is willing, with 24 seats, to become part of the power, then you have to try it", the Prime Minister said. According to him, things went well for 18 months "until it became stressful", and PVV leader Geert Wilders refused to take any responsibility.

The Dutch cabinet appears poised to cut the cost to attend universities by half in a bid to make higher education more affordable for the first year of study. If approved tuition for public universities and hogeschools, or applied sciences universities, will fall to €1,030 for the freshman year starting in September.

Those wanting to become teachers can get the discounted price for two years, which the government hopes will address the current teacher shortage in the Netherlands.

The most anonymous members of the Rutte III government are Ingrid van Engelshoven, Minister of Education, Culture and Science, and Minister Bruno Bruins for Medical Care and Sports. Only 7 percent of respondents knew who they are. Hugo de Jonge, Minster of Public Health, Welfare and Sports, did slightly better with 12 percent of respondents knowing who he is.

Two people were killed and three were injured in two stabbings in Maastricht on Thursday night, the police announced. One person was arrested on suspicion of involvement in these incidents. "Investigation showed that there is no reason to assume that these incidents had a terrorist motive", the police said.

According to the police, a fight on Botsaarsstraat around 9:00 p.m. ended with a man being stabbed to death. The identity of the victim is still unclear. The suspect fled.

PVV leader Geert Wilders filed a declaration against Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Thursday morning accusing him of "discrimination against all Dutch people". According to Wilders, asylum seekers receive more benefits than Dutch, and because of that and other things, Rutte is guilty of "punishable and criminal behavior", AD reports.

Wilders visited a police station in The Hague on Thursday with a letter to the Public Prosecutor and a big cart full of boxes with statements of support. The street was closed down to traffic while this happened, according to AD.
