After hours of difficult negotiations, the leaders of the 28 European Union member states reached an agreement on migration policy at a summit in Brussels, Donald Tusk, president of the European Council announced on Friday morning, NU.nl reports.

"Everything was complicated", Prime Minister Mark Rutte said about the summit. "I am not going to say that the whole issue has now been resolved, but we have taken a big step."

A video of Prime Minister Mark Rutte cleaning up coffee he spilled as the cleaners watch, is being shared worldwide. The video was first shown in Arab media, but has now also spread to various countries in Europe, the United States and India, NOS rpeorts.

On Monday Rutte dropped his cup of coffee when he arrived at the coalition council in The Hague. Instead of leaving the mess to the cleaning ladies, he took the mop himself and cleaned up the coffee. This was recorded by a NOS cameraman.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte will pay a visit to United States president Donald Trump early next month at the invitation of the White House, sources told the Telegraaf.

After some time looking for a gap in the agenda for Rutte and Trump to meet, the meeting was tentatively scheduled for July 2nd, according to the newspaper. Rutte and Trump have spoken before, over the telephone and in the margins of a NATO summit in Hamburg, but this will be their first official meeting.

Gas extraction in Groningen will gradually be reduced to zero, Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced in his weekly press conference on Thursday. He called it an "important decision". Shortly after the press conference, the government released a statement saying that gas extraction in the province will be reduced to less than 12 billion cubic meters per year by 2022, and then to 7.5 million cubic meters per year. "In the years after that gas extraction will be reduced to zero."

A majority of Dutch voted against the new law for the Dutch intelligence and security services, the Electoral Council officially announced on Thursday. In total 49.4 percent voted against the law, 46.5 percent voted for it, and 4 percent cast a blank vote, NU.nl reports.

52 percent of Dutch voters voted, far above the 30 percent minimum turnout required for the referendum to be valid.
