The European Central Bank is concerned about Dutch bank ING's ability to handle a hard Brexit, according to a report in FD. Sources told the financial newspaper that ING is being pressured to at least partially roll-back a 2016 decision to move dozens of trading desk staffers to their large office in London.

The new concern is that ING will lose access to some financial markets if Brexit continues to progress.

Japanese electronic company Panasonic is moving its European head office from London to Amsterdam, in order to avoid potential tax issues that may arise after the Brexit - the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union, newspaper Nikkei Asian Review reported on Thursday.

The move is scheduled for October.

The British government is expecting that Unilever will pick Rotterdam for its head office after the United Kingdom leaves the European Union - the so called Brexit, the Financial Times reports based on information from government officials. Unilever refused to comment.

The first high-speed Eurostar train carrying passengers will travel from London to Amsterdam Central Station on Tuesday. These passengers involve people specially invited to herald the official start of the high speed train between London, Amsterdam and Rotterdam on April 4th, the Telegraaf reports.

Eurostar is launching a new direct high speed train route between Amsterdam and London, the company announced on Friday. From April 4th there will be two fast trains a day between the Netherlands and United Kingdom. Tickets start from 40 euros per seat, one way.

The train will also stop at Rotterdam. This new service was preceded by a comprehensive testing of the Netherlands high speed network and the building of Eurostar terminals in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

Rotterdam university of applied sciences has shut down the old part of its complex for prevention measures against fire accidents. Thursday and Friday's classes are canceled.

The post secondary school carried out an inspection on the cladding panels in response to the fatal fire at the Grenfell Tower in London last summer. And it resulted that the panels did not comply with applicable fire safety standards.

A nail-biting lottery is how Amsterdam is now officially the next home of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Roughly 900 jobs will move to Amsterdam, with staffers needing to choose between staying in the UK or making the move to the Netherlands. 

The European Union's EMA will formally leave London, United Kingdom beginning in March 2019 because of the impending Brexit.

One of the suspects arrested in connection with a terrorist attack on the Parsons Green tube station in London on Friday, has family living in Noord-Brabant, according to Arabic journalist Jenan Moussa, who spoke with the family. She posted their conversation on Twitter.

The suspect in question is 21-year-old Yahyah Farroukh, AD reports. He was arrested on Saturday night, after a homemade bomb went off on Parsons Green on Friday, injuring 29 people. A second arrested suspect, an 18-year-old Iraqi boy, lived in the same foster home as Farroukh in the United Kingdom.

Two Rotterdam students planned to vacation in the United States, but they got no further than JFK Airport in New York. There the American authorities decided to deny them access to the country. "Because we are Muslim", Othmane Charib and Ismail Aghzanay said in a video they made from London after being deported. 

"We were treated like criminals. We had to sit back to back with each other and weren't allowed to make eye contact." Charib tells in the video. "They took our pictures and fingerprints. Our tickets were torn to pieces. Dogs are treated better."

While many claim that the Netherlands' strict banker bonus cap is deterring international banks from settling in Amsterdam after the Brexit, the Dutch capital does seem to be popular within another branch in the financial sector - flash traders.

At least five companies involved in this type of stock trade already settled in Amsterdam or are planning to do so soon, according to the Financieele Dagblad on Tuesday. The newspaper calls it "the first success for the lobby that wants to attract financial companies from the City to Amsterdam".

Minister Bert Koenders of Foreign Affairs condemned the "horrible attack" on at a mosque in London last night in a statement on Twitter. One person was killed and ten others injured when a delivery van crashed into people leaving a mosque in Finsbury Park, NU.nl reports.

"Horrible attack on mosque attendees in London. I empathize with the victims. Offered condolences to colleague Johnson", Koenders said on his Ministry's Twitter feed.

Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam overtook Heathrow airport in London as the European airport that offers the most direct flights, according to a new report by industry organization ACI Europe, Het Parool reports.

The Amsterdam airport is now the European airport that offers the most direct flights with 4,861 direct flights a week. That is a 20 percent increase compared to 10 years ago. Heathrow reduced the number of direct flights slightly during the same time period. As dit other rivals like Charles de Gaulle in Paris.

The terrorism threat level in the Netherlands remains high at level 4 out of 5 after a terrorist attack in London on Sunday, National Coordinator Dick Schoof of Counterterrorism and Security said on Sunday. Seven people were killed and 48 others injured when three perpetrators crashed a delivery van into pedestrians on London Bridge and then got out and stabbed people on the street and in nearby pubs at around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, NU.nl reports

Dutch man Aweys F. is in custody in London on suspicion of planning for a terrorist attack in the city. The 37-year-old man appeared in court on Wednesday, AD reports.

F. was arrested last week, about to board a flight to Istanbul. The British authorities believe that he was planning to join terrorist organization ISIS in Syria. The 37-year-old man has been living in the United Kingdom since 2013. He was born in Somalia, but has Dutch citizenship. In court he confirmed his name, but would say nothing else, according to the newspaper.

There will be no stop at Schiphol for the time being, AD reports.

The Netherlands is contributing an extra 2 million euros for clearing land mines in areas in Syria that have been recaptured from terrorist organization Islamic State, Minister Bert Koenders of Foreign Affairs announced in London on Tuesday. Every year the Netherlands contributes about 20 million euros for demining in a number of war-torn countries, including Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Lebanon, Somalia and South-Sudan.

A group of school pupils from Bergen op Zoom witnessed a terrorist attack in London on Wednesday afternoon. Five people were killed and around 40 injured when a man crashed his car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, crashed into the Westminster Palace gate, got out and stabbed a police officer, the Telegraaf reports.
