The Limburg police suspended four officers from the Horst-Peel and Maas regions for dereliction of duty. They are accused of "unprofessional behavior", the Limburger reports. 

The police would only confirm to the newspaper that four cops had to hand in their gun and pepper spray last week and are no longer allowed to enter the police station. What exactly they are accused of, the police did not say. "They have not behaved in a way that we would expect from police officers", a spokesperson said.

Loose cows caused multiple accidents on the A73 highway near Oirlo in Limburg early  on Friday morning. At least one person was injured in a collision and one cow was put down after being hit by a car, the Limburg police said on Twitter.

The injured person was taken to hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The police warn motorists to be careful when driving in the area. Anyone that suffered material damage as a result of the cows, can report it to the police.

A group of around 30 people jumped out of a truck on the A2 highway near Gronsveld in Limburg on Thursday morning. They then fled on foot into the Maastricht neighborhoods, the police said.

The people jumped out of the truck at around 8:45 a.m. The group consists of adults and children, a police spokesperson said to NU.nl. A number of them are barefoot. At this stage the police assume the people are undocumented migrants, according to the newspaper. "In any case, they don't seem to come from the Netherlands", the police spokesperson said.

The Limburg police are conducting forensic investigations in the village of Beesel on Monday, as part of the investigation into the disappearance of then 17-year-old Marjo Winkens in September 1975. This cold case was revived after the police received an "interesting tip", the police said in a statement.

A man was found dead “under suspicious circumstances” in an apartment in Weert, Limburg during the early hours of Friday morning. The police went to the man’s home on Zilvermeeuw at around 2:30 a.m. after a report that he had not been seen for several days, the Telegraaf reports.

The police are investigating exactly how the man died. The home is closed down as a crime scene.

After years of skyrocketing prices, the housing market in the Netherlands may be cooling down. In the last quarter of 2018, one in five municipalities saw home prices decrease compared to the previous quarter, according to the quarterly report of valuation company Calcasa. The price decreases mainly happened in Limburg and Groningen, RTL Nieuws reports.

Amsterdam is still the city in the Netherlands with the highest crime figures, according to newspaper AD's annual crime monitor Misdaadmeter. Neighboring municipality Diemen is catching up to the Dutch capital, moving from the 26th most unsafe municipality in 2017 to the 8th last year. Limburg counts four municipalities in the top 10 least safe, AD reports.

A 57-year-old man was arrested in Limburg on Tuesday morning for brutally raping an 18-year-old woman in 2002. He was arrested after a DNA match, the police said in a statement. 

The man and the woman were involved in a car crash in Horst on September 17th, 2002. The woman's car was damaged to such an extent that she could not drive it any further. The man offered to give her a lift home. Instead he took her to a forested area, where he raped her.

The driver of a delivery van threw around 7 kilograms of heroin out of his vehicle's window while driving on the A2 in Limburg early on Wednesday morning. The police saw the man throwing the package out of the car and arrested him, 1Limburg reports.

The police pulled the van over near Maasbracht. While inspecting the car, officers also found a block of hash.

The heroin has a street value of between 20 and 40 euros per gram. The man therefore threw between 140 thousand and 280 thousand euros of drugs out of the car.

Dutch national railway NS will run a reduced schedule on Wednesday morning with forecasted snow expected to fall across much of the country. Up to 3 centimeters of snow is expected across much of the Netherlands.

The limited train schedule is in place so the NS can quickly respond to problems, and provide more accurate travel information, the railway said. Passengers can expect longer travel times and more crowded trains.

266,000 erectile dysfunction pills seized in Swalmen, 23 Jan 2019

The police confiscated a massive 266 thousand pills for erectile dysfunction in a warehouse in the Limburg town of Swalmen on Wednesday. The warehouse was searched based on an anonymous tip, the Roermond police said on Facebook.

It took officers hours to count the bills, which are from various brands, the police said. The trade and possession of such large amounts of medical drugs is punishable under the Medicines Act, according to the police.

The police are investigating where the pills came from. So far no arrests were made.

One person died in a fire in a mobile home at a campsite in Meerlo, Limburg. The police are still trying to identify the victim.

Emergency services responded to the fire on Peschweg around midnight on Wednesday, according to NU.nl. Firefighters found the victim's body while extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The police are investigating and call on witnesses to come forward.

There were over 1,635 kilometers of traffic jams across the Netherlands at 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday, just as the evening rush hour got underway, according to travel association ANWB. A snow storm that started on the west coast in the morning was slowly making its way east, and was still expected to hover over the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland, Limburg, and parts of Flevoland and Noord-Brabant past 6 p.m.

A hand grenade was found in a the front yard of a home in Echt on Tuesday morning. Half an hour later, another grenade ws found in the front yard of a home in Holtum. The resident of the Holtum home is a member of an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, the police confirmed to NU.nl. The resident of the Echt home does not belong to a motorcycle gang, but a member of such a gang lives on the same street, NU.nl reports.

The police arrested a 28-year-old man from Rotterdam on Wednesday in connection with the murder of 44-year-old Kemal Zengin in Venlo in 2017. This is the first suspect arrested in this case.

Jewelry thieves made off with 1.3 million euros of luxury watches in a brazen smash-and-grab robbery in the center of Maastricht Wednesday night. Two burglars made off with 150 watches from the Juwelier Burger on Platielstraat, and were apparently at large.

A video was posted on Facebook claiming to show the end of the burglary. Two people are scene climbing down a ladder at the scene of the crime, and then fleeing on bicycles.

A 26-year-old man was injured in a shooting in Brunssum, Limburg on Tuesday night. He was taken to hospital by ambulance. No arrests have been made, NU.nl reports.

The shooting happened in the garden of a home on De Ruyterstraat at around 10:20 p.m. The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear.

The police investigated at the scene, spoke to local residents and call on witnesses to come forward.

Six people were arrested after an explosion at an ATM rocked Roermond just after midnight on Monday morning. Six people were arrested, all aged between 21 and 27.

Those arrested were from Amsterdam, Roermond, and Sittard-Geleen. One person was taken into custody near the blast on Hoekstraat in the immediate aftermath. Five more men were taken into custody in the nearby Limburg town of Beek.

Two cyclists were killed in a traffic accident in the Noord-Limburg town of Grashoek on Wednesday morning. A third cyclist was injured and is in critical condition, the Limburg police said on Twitter.

The cyclists were cycling on Vliegertsdijk at around 7:30 a.m. when they were hit by a van. The injured cyclist was rushed to hospital by helicopter. The victims are three adult men, but more information about their identity is not yet known, the police said. The van driver was not injured.

The Satudarah chapter in Geleen threatened to commit a slaughter in the city if the police raided the outlaw motorcycle gang's clubhouse. Messages intercepted by the police show that the motorcycle gang threatened to throw hand grenades into a bar with a hundred or more people inside, was revealed during the first hearing against seven members of Satudarah Geleen on Monday, NU.nl reports.

Six poultry farmers were sentenced to prison and community service for committing fraud with their poultry rights. They kept more poultry and produced more manure than they had permits for. They must also pay the illegal profits they made back to the State, totaling in an amount of 860 thousand euros, NOS reports.

According to the judge, the farmers all violated the Fertilizers Act, which is intended to reduce the surplus manure and livestock containment in order to protect the environment. By doing so they created unfair competition.

Six men were found tied up in the warehouse of a transport company in Susteren, Limburg on Tuesday night. The police were led to the warehouse by a blood covered man. Exactly what happened in the building, and why the six men were tied up, is not yet clear, NOS reports.

The blood-covered man showed up at a home on Baakhovenerweg at around 10:40 p.m. asking for help. Before arriving at the home, he had crashed a car with Polish license plates through the gate of the warehouse, according to the broadcaster. The car ended up in a meadow and the man could drive no further.
