The year long commemoration of the 125th anniversary of Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh's death drew nearly a million foreign tourists to the Netherlands, according to figures released by NBTC Holland Marketing on Tuesday
The newly purchased painting entitled “Voorzaan and Westerhem” was unveiled yesterday at the very proud Zaans Museum in Zaansdam, with this being the museum’s most expensive purchase in its history.
The Zaans Museum purchased a work by French painter Claude Monet for 1.16 million euros, making it the most expensive purchase in the history of the museum. Titled, "Voorzaan and Westerhem," Monet painted the piece when he stayed in the city in 1871.
