Tractors leaving Den Haag after a farmers' protest, 16 Oct 2019

Around two thousand farmers spent the night in The Hague after a major protest on Wednesday, according to estimates from Farmers Defense Force (FDF), the organizer behind the protest. They slept in caravans, tents or their tractors and ended the overnight protest with a breakfast. Around 300 Hague residents, farmers and journalists attended the breakfast, NOS reports.

Public works department Rijkswaterstaat closed the A12 highway from Utrecht to Den Haag at Nootdorp at the request of the police. The highway is overcrowded with farmers on tractors heading towards The Hague for a demonstration. Rijkswaterstaat advises motorists to avoid the highways around The Hague region.

Thousands of kids, young people and adults flooded to Koekamp in The Hague on Friday afternoon to protest for a more effective climate policy. By around 1:00 p.m., when the protest was set to start, The Hague Central Station was completely packed with people. "Stay calm and follow the directions of NS personnel", the police advised on Twitter.

Throngs of schoolchildren and adults are expected to walk out of their classrooms, jobs and daily routines to instead take to the streets of The Hague to demand that the Dutch government and other world leaders take more action against global warming. They join a global movement of young people demanding that their world be protected against the climate crisis.

A total of 20 people were arrested around a not-very-well-attended Pegida demonstration in The Hague on Sunday. Among them was leader of the anti-Islam group Edwin Wagensveld, who was arrested again for wearing a swastika on his shirt

The Schilderswijk in The Hague has been definitively confirmed a no-demonstration zone after the court in the city has rejected requests from the Netherlands Folk Union (NVU) and the Anti-Fascist Action (AFA) to demonstrate there on the 20th of September, De Telegraaf writes.
