The Tweede Kamer is calling on the Dutch government to do something about unsafe internet of things devices. A vast majority of 148 out of 150 parliamentarians voted for a motion demanding an investigation into what security requirements can be set, NU.nl reports.

The motion demands that the government investigates what minimum security requirements can be imposed on the internet of things, how those requirements can be enforced and what other measures are necessary to protect consumers from poorly-protected devices.

The Amsterdam ArenA wants to play a key roll in the development of the 5G network by launching the super fast mobile network during the European Football Championships in 2020, along with other host cities. Ger Baron, Amsterdam's 'chief technology officer' will make this proposal at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday afternoon, Financieele Dagblad reports.

The D66 wants official European safety standards for devices that connect to the so-called internet of things. Devices that do not meet these standards should be banned, parliamenterian Kees Verhoeven said in an interview with NU.nl. He will submit a proposal addressing this to Dutch parliament next week.
