Netherlands residents have lodged over 30,000 complaints about fireworks in just six days on the website Vuurwerkoverlast.nl. The site is operating for its third year and went back online for the holiday season less than a week ago.

The firework complaint website Vuurwerkoverlast.nl went online yesterday. This is the 3rd year in a row that citizens can express their complaints at this reporting point. 440 complaints have been registered so far. People can report their complaints until January 3rd.

Minister Henk Kamp of Economic Affairs announced on Tuesday that the Cabinet will further reduce the gas extraction in Groningen. A maximum of 39.4 billion cubic meters of gas may be extracted from the gas field in Groningen in 2015, previously it was 42.5 billion cubic meters. This is a reduction of about 7 percent.

On Wednesday evening the Amsterdam City Council almost unanimously approved port Alderman Kajsa Ollongren's (D66) proposal for the construction of a new sea lock in IJmuiden. Amsterdam will contribute a maximum of 105.25 million euro to the project.

A Liberian asylum seeker was on his way to Brussels, from where he would be deported back to Liberia, when he got the surprising news that he can remain in the Netherlands.

The man had repeatedly appealed against his deportation because of the Ebola epidemic prevailing in his country, but all his requests were denied.

A ruling by the court in Roermond prevented the deportation of the 31 year old man, his lawyer confirmed. Last week the court in Den Bosch ruled that he must be returned to Liberia despite the Ebola epidemic.
