The diagnoses of about a quarter of the seriously ill psychiatric patients at Gelderland mental health institution GGNet were incorrect or out of date, the institute concluded based on its own investigation, NOS reports.
The police arrested a 77-year-old woman in Brummen, Gelderland on Thursday on suspicion of influencing an underage victim of sexual abuse in Nepal. According to the Public Prosecutor, the woman offered the 15-year-old boy a large sum of money if he changed his statements. She planned to travel to Nepal on Friday.
Public health institute RIVM again implemented the National Heat Plan for Limburg, Noord-Brabant, Gelderland, Utrecht, Overijssel and Drenthe. "The forensic doctor's estimate is that the torso was in the water for weeks, maybe months, Frank de Valk, spokesperson for the Oost-Nederland police, said to De Gelderlander. The torso was taken to the Forensic Investigation Center in Elst, where it is being examined.

The residents of 23 homes on Potsmaat in Doesburg, Gelderland were evacuated around 8:00 p.m. on Monday night due to a gas leak in one of the houses. A resident struck a gas pipe with a shovel while working in his crawl space, De Gelderlander reports.
The main gas line was turned off, and the fire department and Liander worked on closing the leak at the site. Part of the residential neighborhood was also closed down with police tape to keep people from wandering in.
A 29-year-old man drowned in swimming pool De Dennen in the Gelderland town of Vorden overnight. How the man ended up in the pool is unclear. The police are investigating.
Emergency services responded to the pool on Oude Zutphenseweg around 3:00 a.m., according to De Stentor. First responders took the man out of the water and tried to resuscitate him, but it was to no avail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pool will be closed on Friday for police investigation.
A police officer sustained minor injuries when a drunk driver attempted to flee from him in the Gelderland village of Eck en Wiel during the early hours of Monday morning. The officer was holding on to the man's car when he tried to speed away and was dragged for 10 to 15 meters, ANP reports.
This happened after a breathalyzer test showed that the man was driving under the influence of alcohol. The motorist was easy to trace, because the officer still had his driver's license.
The 34-year-old man was arrested at his home in Lienden on Monday morning.
The police are investigating a report of a man tying a 12-year-old girl to a tree in the Gelderland town of Emst on Monday night, Omroep Gelderland reports.
The incident happened near the playing field on Dominee van Rijnstraat in Emst. The girl managed to free herself and call her mother.
The police would like to talk to anyone who saw anything strange, or have surveillance camera footage of the area, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
Two boys with behavioral problems managed to slip away during school hours to go swimming, because of insufficient supervision by the staff of a school and a youth care institution in Zetten in Gelderland, three inspectorates concluded after investigation. As a result, one of the boys drowned in the Rhine river in May last year, NOS reports.

A body was removed from the Waal river near Brakel after a serious accident in which a car crashed into the river on Thursday night. It is possible that the accident claimed more lives, a police spokesperson said to De Gelderlander.
The accident happened around 10:50 p.m. A car crashed into the water on Veerdam in Brakel, Gelderland, close to the ferry to Herwijnen. Eyewitnesses saw the car's headlights shine under the water for a moment before they went out. The cause of the accident is still unclear.
A body was found in a home on Akkerweg in Wijchen on Wednesday morning. The police responded to the home around 5:50 a.m. after receiving a report that the windows were blackened. The police suspect that a fire broke out "a few days earlier" and then burned itself out, De Gelderlander reports.

On January 26th, 2017 two men and a woman forced their way into the home of an elderly couple on Hofstede in Lienden. One resident was attacked with pepper spray and badly beaten. The perpetrators left without stealing anything.
Several children in the Gelderland village of Kootwijkerbroek were confronted by a killer clown, who is sometimes naked, over the past days. A number of schools in the neighborhood warned parents not to let their children walk to school or home alone, according to Omroep Gelderland.
The police are aware of the clown, a spokesperson told Barneveldse Krant. "We are taking it seriously and will therefore also investigate it", the spokesperson said on Monday. "I can not yet say what the state of affairs is at the moment."
The body of a woman was found in a home on Kraaijenbergstraat in Hattem on Monday evening. The police believe she was killed in a crime. A man was arrested in the home on suspicion of involvement in the woman's death, the Gelderland police said on Twitter.

Two police officers were assaulted at a Carnival party in Vaassen, Gelderland during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Two men from neighboring Emst were arrested, ANP reports.
The officers were patrolling through the festivities when they addressed a young man about urinating in public around 2:20 a.m. Another man, and then several others, became involved and the situation escalated.
One officer was pushed to the ground and kicked in the head. The other was kicked and beaten.
