The fire department first responded to Meijhorst overnight. There a delivery van was on fire. It burnt out completely. A car parked next to the van was also damaged.
Specialized police officers from a SWAT team took a minor girl from a high-voltage mast in Warnsveld, Gelderland on Wednesday evening. The girl, who was struggling with psychological issues, spent hours on the mast, the Telegraaf reports.
Dutch national railway NS will run a reduced schedule on Wednesday morning with forecasted snow expected to fall across much of the country. Up to 3 centimeters of snow is expected across much of the Netherlands.
The limited train schedule is in place so the NS can quickly respond to problems, and provide more accurate travel information, the railway said. Passengers can expect longer travel times and more crowded trains.
A 58-year-old woman was arrested after a body was found in a home on Blauwe Hoek in the Gelderland village of Doornenburg on Monday morning. The victim was identified as a 58-year-old man. The man was killed in a violent way, according to the police.
The police responded to the apartment complex at around 6:45 a.m. after a report. The woman was outside the building. She is suspected of involvement in the man's death. The woman was taken to a police station for questioning.
A body was found in a home on Blauwe Hoek in the Gelderland village of Doornenburg on Monday morning. According to the police, the victim was found under "suspicious circumstances".
The police responded to the scene at around 6:30 a.m. after a report, according to Omroep Gelderland. Two ambulances and a trauma helicopter were also deployed to the scene.
A spokesperson for the police told ANP that the victim did not die of natural causes. So far nothing is known about the victim's identity.
The police are investigating.
There were over 1,635 kilometers of traffic jams across the Netherlands at 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday, just as the evening rush hour got underway, according to travel association ANWB. A snow storm that started on the west coast in the morning was slowly making its way east, and was still expected to hover over the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland, Limburg, and parts of Flevoland and Noord-Brabant past 6 p.m.
Anthony B., a 45-year-old man from Maasdriel suspected of sexually abusing eight children, may have abused more underage kids, the Public Prosecutor said in a proforma hearing against the man. He is also suspected of making child pornography with another 20 children, Omroep Gelderland reports.
The parents of all the children who have been identified in B.'s child pornography have been informed. The material features children between the ages of 8 and 15 years.
A 40-year-old man in Arnhem was arrested on Saturday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 12-year-old son, Bekiro. Police responded to the scene Saturday morning to find the distraught father, and promptly took him into custody. He was later transported to the Scheveningen prison hospital facility, according to newspaper Gelderlander.
The man's 15-year-old son fled the house, according to local media reports. The boys' mother reportedly lives in Germany.
An underage boy was stabbed at the train station in Dieren on Monday afternoon. He was rushed to hospital in serious condition. Another underage boy was arrested, the Rheden police said on Twitter.
The stabbing happened at around 12:45 p.m. at the station's bus stop.. A spokesperson for the police told De Gelderlander that the victim was taken to the Radboud hospital in Nijmegen and is now in a stable condition.
Exactly what happened, is not yet clear. The police are investigating and already spoke to multiple witnesses.
Police across the Netherlands raided 29 separate locations they suspected were tied to the illegal cannabis trade. Investigators took 14 people into custody, and they confiscated 1,600 marijuana plants and 2,900 plant cuttings.
Police also seized 14 cars and motorcycles worth €165,000, and €25,000 in cash. Computers and smart devices were taken in as evidence, along with tasers and conventional weapons.
Skeletal remains were found in a forest plot on the corner of Zomerweg and Zutphen Emmerikseweg in Humelo on Tuesday. The police launched a large investigation. Whether the remains are human, is not yet clear, the police said to De Gelderlander.

A child pornography and sexual abuse case in the Gelderland town of Alem may be much larger than the authorities believed. A 45-year-old man is already accused of making child pornography of eight children. But the Public Prosecutor now believes that there may be 20 more victims, was revealed in a pro-forma hearing in the court in Zutphen on Thursday, AD reports.
ProRail is accelerating the plan to run longer trains between Amsterdam and Nijmegen to implement it in the autumn of 2019, three years earlier than initially planned. The route is one of the busiest in the Netherlands, NU.nl reports.
Hundreds of Barneveld residents are living on polluted ground without knowing it. Over 1,000 tons of contaminated soil was illegally used for two new construction projects in the city, research program Zembla reports based on a report from the Gelderland environmental services.
According to Zembla, a controversial waste processor delivered a total of 10 thousand tons of soil that was heavily polluted with toxic substances styrene and DDT. The company used falsified papers to do this. The pollution in the soil exceeds the legal standards.
The government and the provinces of Groningen, Drenthe, Friesland and Gelderland will sign a covenant this week that will make Nedersaksisch an official, independent and full part of the Dutch language. In the covenant the government promises to protect and promote Nedersaksisch, known as Low Saxon in English, NOS reports.
Low Saxon is spoken in Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, the northeast Veluwe, the Achterhoek and in Oost- and Weststellingwerf. The official recognition comes with money for language projects, and for schools that want to promote a dialect in Lower Saxon.
The Oost-Nederland police arrested two police officers on suspicion of violating their official confidentiality. They are suspected of participating in a criminal partnership, RTL Nieuws reports.
A body was found in the woods on Wolfhezerweg in the Gelderland village of Wolfheze on Wednesday morning, the police said on Twitter. Whether the person was killed in a crime, is not yet clear.
As yet the police released no details about the deceased person's identity, not even the gender. The police are investigating.

Activists for road safety placed empty chairs on squares in Zwolle, Nijverdal, Arnhem, Nijmegen and Ede on Wednesday. A total of 65 chairs were placed in Overijssel and 86 in Gelderland. They represented the number of people killed in traffic accidents in the two provinces last year, NOS reports.
The Friesland Campina plant in Lochem in Gelderland had to be evacuated on Friday morning because nitric acid leaked from a container. A neighboring company was also evacuated as a precaution, ANP reports.
The fire brigade used a water screen to control the leaked acid and managed to close the leak. A cloud of nitric acid spread through the area, but has now settled, according to the local safety office. The danger has passed.
A specialist company was called in to clean up the spill.
A 13-year-old boy died in 's-Heerenberg in Gelderland on Saturday after he hit his head hard in a collision with another football player on the field. The boy was a youth player for football club MvR, NOS reports.
The young keeper collapsed after the collision and stopped breathing. Bystanders provided first aid while emergency services responded. The boy was rushed to hospital with a serious brain injury. He died in hospital later in the day.
The football club held a meeting for players and parents on Saturday afternoon, and canceled all of its matches on Sunday.
A 43-year-old man from Lingewaard in Gelderland is in custody on suspicion of preparing for a violent crime "with terrorist intent" aimed against Muslims, the Public Prosecutor said. The man was arrested on May 23rd, but the Prosecutor only announced his arrest on Wednesday, NU.nl reports.
The authorities started investigating the man after receiving information that the man thought that violence against Muslims is justified "and would take action to do so", the Prosecutor said. "There was also information that he might have access to a quantity of explosives."
The discovery of a suspicious package triggered an evacuation at the army base in the Gelderland town of Oldebroek on Tuesday afternoon. No explosives were found in the package. The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that forms part of the Dutch military, is investigating, De Stentor reports.
The package was discovered in a building on the base, which also includes the artillery shooting camp in 't Harde, around 4:15 p.m. The building was evacuated and the emergency services were called in. The fire brigade, the Marechaussee and explosive experts were deployed.
