A candidate city councilor for party Stadsbelang Utrecht is currently in custody on suspicion of involvement in a failed ATM bombing in Druten in Gelderland. The candidate in question is 30-year-old Steven K., party leader Cees Bos confirmed to newspaper AD.
The police arrested a 17-year-old girl from Ingen in Gelderland on suspicion of involvement in a violent home invasion and assault in Lienden last year.
On January 26th, 2017 two men and a woman forced their way into the home of an elderly couple on Hofstede in Lienden. One resident was attacked with pepper spray and badly beaten. The perpetrators left without stealing anything.
Several children in the Gelderland village of Kootwijkerbroek were confronted by a killer clown, who is sometimes naked, over the past days. A number of schools in the neighborhood warned parents not to let their children walk to school or home alone, according to Omroep Gelderland.
The police are aware of the clown, a spokesperson told Barneveldse Krant. "We are taking it seriously and will therefore also investigate it", the spokesperson said on Monday. "I can not yet say what the state of affairs is at the moment."
The body of a woman was found in a home on Kraaijenbergstraat in Hattem on Monday evening. The police believe she was killed in a crime. A man was arrested in the home on suspicion of involvement in the woman's death, the Gelderland police said on Twitter.
No details were released about the identity of the victim or the suspect. The police also didn't say how the woman died, or whether she and the man knew each other.
The police closed down the home for forensic investigation. According to NOS, police officers also spoke to local residents.
Two police officers were assaulted at a Carnival party in Vaassen, Gelderland during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Two men from neighboring Emst were arrested, ANP reports.
The officers were patrolling through the festivities when they addressed a young man about urinating in public around 2:20 a.m. Another man, and then several others, became involved and the situation escalated.
One officer was pushed to the ground and kicked in the head. The other was kicked and beaten.

A 14-year-old boy was convicted and sentenced to one year in a youth detention facility for his role in the death of Romy Nieuwburg, a girl his age from Hoevelaken. The teen boy was also ordered to spend mandatory time in a psychiatric facility, which can be extended to a maximum of seven years.

A 64-year-old pastor of the PKN church in the Gelderland village of Rhenoy, was attacked in her church on Tuesday. The seriously injured woman was found lying in a pool of blood in the church on Dorpstraat and rushed to the hospital, NOS reports.
The pastor had an appointment to meet a piano tuner in the church. When she didn't return home, her roommate went to check up on her and found her lying in a pool of blood. Local residents say she was hit on the head with a hammer, though the police would not confirm that, according to the broadcaster.
An Apache helicopter crashed into an electricity transmission tower and high-voltage cables Monday evening, before making an emergency landing near Zoelmond, Gelderland. Neither of the two crew members onboard were injuries in the incident, nor were there any injuries on the ground.

The city of Arnhem will ban diesel cars produced before 2004 form the city center by January 1st, 2019 at the latest, the college of mayor and aldermen decided. This decision was met with fierce criticism from the royal Netherlands' automobile club KNAC.

A body was found in the Maas river near the Gelderland village of Balgoy on Thursday morning. The police are at the scene with a forensic team.
According to Omroep Gelderland, the police have been searching for a man believed to have fallen into the Maas for several days. It is not yet clear whether the body found is that of the the missing man.

The number of accidents on Dutch highways increased significantly over the past years, according to figures from incident management foundation IMN. Over the past 12 months there were 25,963 accidents on Dutch highways, an increase of 27 percent compared to four years ago, IMN - a collaboration between Dutch insurers and road managers - reported on Thursday.
During the early hours of Thursday morning the Gelderland town of Epe dealt with its fourth overnight fire in a row, and the sixth fire in a short time. Around 3:45 a.m., the fire department responded to a fire in a detached wooden chalet at De Koekamp campground, Omroep Gelderland reports.
The chalet was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The fire was under control by 4:30 a.m., but the chalet can be considered lost, according to the fire department. The police believe it was arson.
An 18-year-old woman went missing in the Gelderland town of Renkum on Sunday. She was last seen from the Ketsheuvel around 8:00 p.m. The police sent a notification of her disappearance through alert system Burgernet to 1,055 people, but by 10:30 p.m. the young woman was still missing, the Gelderlander reports.
According to the notification, the young woman has a half-Turkish appearance, a slender posture and is around 1.6 meters tall. She has brown, curly hair and was wearing dark clothing and sneakers when she was last seen.
