A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with threats made against anti-Islam nationalist political party PVV or the Dutch parliamentary building complex, police announced. The arrest was made at the central train station in Den Haag on Tuesday, a day after the alleged threats were reported to police.

The Cabinet is setting one million euros aside for extra security at controversial events. The VVD and PvdA want to prevent cultural institutions cancelling events due to organizers being afraid of threats or high security costs.

The municipality of Binnenmaas, Zuid-Holland has banned two works created by artist Dirk Hardy. The student of Academie Willem de Kooning in Rotterdam was invited by the municipality to exhibit his work at the town hall. While most work will be displayed as planned, the church has classified two pieces as "hurtful" and unsuitable for the public building.

Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb appeared on television programme Nieuwsuur Wednesday night, and lashed out at Muslims living in this society despite their hatred of it. “It is incomprehensible that you can turn against freedom,” he said. “But if you do not like freedom, in Heaven’s name pack your bag and leave.”

Following an attack on the offices of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte quickly notified the public that his country will support France as it deals with the fallout from the attack. Two armed, masked gunmen with rapid-fire weaponry and a rocket launcher initiated an assault on the office Wednesday leaving 12 dead, including two police officers, and at least nine injured.

Pedophile association Martijn has been threatened with closure by the Supreme Court, according to the Volkskrant. The banning of the group will be decided on Friday, a decision that is being contested by supporters of the group, including 48 writers, scientists, journalists, actors and musicians.
