King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima expressed their shock about a that left three people killed and five injured on Monday. Their sympathies are with the victims, and their thoughts with the residents of Utrecht, they said in a statement on the Koninklijk Huis website. Two suspects were arrested in Amsterdam this week in connection with the coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, 2015. The attacks killed 130 victims and injured 413 more. Seven suspects died in the incidents.
Police detained a two men, aged 29 and 31, in Amsterdam on Tuesday. A Rotterdam court ordered the younger man to remain in confinement for the next two weeks, according to the Public Prosecutor's office (OM). He is in solitary confinement to prevent any attempts to corrupt an ongoing investigation.

A 6-year-old Dutch girl was seriously injured in an accident with a ski lift in the French ski-resort of Châtel in Haute-Savoie. The child was resuscitated at the scene and rushed to a hospital in Geneva by helicopter. The local police are investigating the incident, mayor Nicolas Rubin confirmed, the Telegraaf reports.

A 45-year-old Dutch man died in a skiing accident in France on Monday. The man was skiing outside the designated track with his son and a friend when he was hit by two avalanches. Attempts to resuscitate him were to no avail, the mountain police in Modane, Savoie said to newspaper AD.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte reacted in horror to reports of a shooting at a Christmas market in the French city of Strasbourg on Tuesday evening. At least three people were killed and 12 injured, six of whom are in a serious condition, French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner confirmed, BBC reports.

"Horrible reports about the shooting in Strasbourg", the Dutch Prime Minister said on Twitter. "My thoughts are with the victims and their next of kin. I have conveyed my condolences to President Emmanuel Macron."

Protest movement "yellow vests" announced a protest march in Amsterdam on Saturday. Protesters will gather at the Stopera at 11:30 a.m. and then march along the Amstel and around the city hall. The protest was reported to the municipality, a spokesperson for Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema said to Het Parool.

A 24-year-old Moroccan man was arrested in the south of France on suspicion of stabbing a 44-year-old man to death on C.J.K. van Aaltstraat in Amsterdam in September. The man will be extradited to the Netherlands this week, Het Parool reports.

Minister Wopke Hoekstra of Finance canceled his planned visit to an investor conference in Saudi Arabia next week, following the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi after he visited the Saudi consulate in Turkey. The consultancy firm that organized Hoekstra trip confirmed that the Minister is no longer going, ANP reports.

Surveillance camera footage show Khashoggi entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 3rd. There is no footage of him leaving again and he hasn't been seen since. There is still much confusion about what happened to him.

A man from Belgium was checked in the Vosges mountains in France on Thursday after Dutch police officers mistook him for Jos B., the man suspected of murdering 11-year-old  in 1998, the Limburg police confirmed to NU.nl.

The Belgian man was not arrested as some media sources reported, only checked to confirm his identity, the Limburg police said.

Twenty years after the murder of 11-year-old in Brunssummerheide, the Dutch authorities managed to identify a suspect. The suspect is 55-year-old Jos B. from Simpelveld. The police do not know where he is at this time, and placed him on the national wanted list on Wednesday.

The Netherlands had the sixth highest hourly wage in the European Union's business sector with an average of 38.80 euros last year. Denmark came in first place with 42,50 euros, according to European stats office Eurostat, ANP reports.

The public- and agricultural sectors are not included in these figures. 

In addition to Denmark, employers in Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and France also spent more on their employees' wages than the Netherlands. Bulgaria had the lowest hourly wage at only 4.90 euros gross.

Dutch police officers are en masse expressing sympathy and praise for French officer Arnaud Beltrame, who gave his life to save a cashier during a hostage situation at a supermarket in Trebes on Friday, AD reports.
