A referee was attacked by football players of club RKJVV from Den Bosch on Saturday afternoon during a championship match between RKJVV 5 and Oirschot Vooruit 6, Omroep Brabant reports. Dutch football association KNVB is investigating the assault.

The Stockholm police expect massive crowds in and around the stadium where the Europa League final between Ajax and Mancester United will be played, the police warn in a press release. The captain of 12 Dutch football teams in the Eredivisie want artificial turf to be banned for matches in the highest football league in the country. Davy Klaasen of Ajax, Luuk de Jong of PSV and Dirk Kuyt until recently of Feyenoord, among others, signed a manifesto drawn up by players union VVCS. The manifesto demands that the license requirements for the Eredivisie include a requirement for real grass, such as the requirement for the quality of lighting, RTL Nieuws reports.

Feyenoord captain Dirk Kuyt is retiring his football career, the Rotterdam team announced on its website on Wednesday. Following a career high point of scoring a hat trick and winning the national title for Feyenoord on Sunday, the 36-year-old footballer feels that this is the right time to step down.

Another two former football players reported being sexually abused at their football clubs when they were children. One was abused as a youth player for Sparta Rotterdam in the 90s, the other at FC Eindhoven in the 70s, they told the Volkskrant. Both clubs contacted the victims and call for other victims to come forward.

The 10 thousand tickets Ajax had available for fans to attend the Europa League finals against Manchester United next week, sold out within 30 minutes, RTL Nieuws reports.

The Europa League finals match is taking place next week Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. in Stockholm. This is the first time since 1996 that Ajax reached a final in a European tournament, according to the broadcaster.

Between 140 thousand and 150 thousand supporters filled the streets of Rotterdam city center on Monday to honor Feyenoord and congratulate the team on its Eredivisie victory. The players appeared on the city hall balcony shortly after noon and joined the thousands of supporters singing You'll Never Walk Alone, led by Lee Powers, NOS reports.

Thousands of Feyenoord fans are gathered in Rotterdam to celebrate their team's victory in the Eredivisie. With about an hour to go before the team is set to appear to their fans, the police are already calling on people to stop coming to the city center - all locations are full. "Celebrate at home or elsewhere", the police said on Twitter.

The Coolsingel and surrounding areas can hold 140 thousand people in total.

A total of 76 people were arrested in Rotterdam after Feyenoord beat Heracles Almelo 3-1 on Sunday and thereby became the national champions for the first time in 18 years. According to the police, there were "no major incidents'' during the celebrations. Feyenoord will be officially congratulated and honored in a ceremony on Coolsingel around noon on Monday.

The police released photos of another 10 men suspected of violence during riots that broke out in Rotterdam city center on Sunday after Feyenoord lost to Excelsior. On Wednesday the police published photos of 12 suspects, seven of whom were arrested by Thursday evening, according to the Telegraaf.

The municipality of Rotterdam decided to ban shops in the city center from selling alcohol on Sunday, when Feyenoord is playing against Heracles for the Dutch title. On Wednesday the police published photos of 12 men suspected of violence during riots in Rotterdam this past Sunday after Feyenoord lost against Excelsior. So far three suspects turned themselves in, according to the Telegraaf.

All 12 men are suspected of public violence. The photos of those who turned themselves in have since been removed from the police site.

The Public Prosecutor wants to keep 30 men and boys arrested during the riots that broke out after Feyenoord lost to Excelsior on Sunday, in custody for another two weeks. Should the Prosecutor get his way, they will miss Feyenoord's last chance of winning the Dutch title in a match against Heracles this coming Sunday, RTL Nieuws reports.

The suspects are between the ages of 14 and 45. They are all suspected of throwing fireworks, stones or whatever they had to hand at police officers in Rotterdam following the Feyenoord-Excelsior match.

Another two former youth players at football club PSV came forward to report that they were sexually abused while playing for the club, the Volkskrant reports.

One victim was abused in the 70s - his coach took him to the dressing room after a training and forced him to go sit in the bath, where the coach molested him. The boy went home in tears, but refused to tell his parents what happened. "I insisted that nothing happened. I was ashamed and scared that the coach would get mad at me and take me off the team." he told the Volksrkant.

The footballers in the Dutch national team were surprised by the KNVB's choice to name Dick Advocaat the new coach, KNVB technical director Hans van Breukelen said in a press conference on Tuesday. The Rotterdam police are studying surveillance camera footage of riots that broke out in the city after Feyenoord lost 3-0 to Excelsior on Sunday. They are looking for hooligans who were violent during the disturbances, so that they can be arrested to prevent them from ruining the atmosphere during the next Feyenoord match in Rotterdam on Sunday, RTL Nieuws reports.

The police will publish the photos of these rioters on their site. It mainly involves people who acted violently towards the police or other persons.

The football match between FC Den Bosch and FC Dordrecht was suspended for 15 minutes on Friday after a thrown firework exploded near the ball boy's head. The terrified boy ran off the field in tears. He sustained hearing damage, according to Omroep Brabant. FC Den Bosch supporter Luc van Iersel started a crowdfunding campaign to buy the boy and a steward who became unwell during the match each a football themed gift - so they can end the season on a positive note.

A "small group of rioters" caused major disruptions in Rotterdam after Feyenoord's shocking 3-0 defeat by Excelsior on Sunday, the police said in a statement. Some 100 people were detained for crimes including challenging the police, throwing fireworks and stones, insulting police officers and not following the police's instructions.

Two former football players at PSV and Vitesse reported to the professional football organizations that they were sexually abused while playing at the Dutch clubs in their youths. This is the first time that victims of sexual abuse in Dutch professional clubs are coming forward, according to NU.nl.

The municipality of Rotterdam is working very hard to try and give hundreds of thousands of Feyenoord fans the chance to see their team possibly win the Dutch title in the match against Excelsior on Sunday, the Telegraaf reports

A massive 30 thousand tickets have already been sold to season ticket holders to watch the match on big screens set up in De Kuip on Sunday afternoon. The last 7,500 tickets are going to youth members of the legion, Feyenoord's official supporters club, today. That means that De Kuip is fully booked.

The investigation into a large organized fight between football hooligans supporting Feyenoord and AZ three months ago, has reached a dead end. So far no arrests were made, and the chance of it happening in the future is very small, a police spokesperson said to the Telegraaf.

According to the spokesperson, the case no longer has high priority within the police. "The problem is that no one feels like a victim or wants to press charges."

Arnhem professional football club Vitesse won 2-0 against Alkmaar’s AZ in the KNVB Cup final at De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam Sunday night, a historical win for the team which had not won a major tournament or league in its club history. The team from will celebrate its 125th anniversary on May 14. No professional football club has suffered a drought as long as Vitesse.

As Cup winner, Vitesse gets to face off against the upcoming national champion, which is likely to be Feyenoord, for the Johan Cruijff Shield on August 5th. Vitesse is currently ranked sixth in the Eredivisie.

Dick Advocaat will be the new coach for the Dutch men's football team, the Telegraaf reports. According to the newspaper, the 69-year-old Fenerbahçe coach spoke with Dutch football association KNVB on Wednesday and now only faces a few practical issues before he can start his new job with Oranje.
