The Dutch Railway, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), and the railway administrator ProRail are investigating the possibility of measuring heat in the Schipholtunnel. This should prevent the now regular interruptions in rail traffic caused by smoke detection alarms.
150 guests were evacuated after a large fire in the hotel of wellness- and sauna complex Thermen Bussloo in Voorst started on Thursday afternoon.
On Tuesday, a bushfire again raged on the Veluwe. Just like the day before the fire broke out near Hoog Soeren, west of Apeldoorn. Police investigation now shows that the fire on Sunday was probably ignited.
The fire broke out at 1.00 am on a piece of heathland between Hoog Soeren and the restaurant Echoput along the Amersfoortseweg. Dozens of firefighters and a dozen fire trucks battled the fire. It was only around 2.00 pm when the 'safe' signal was given.
Firefighters were able to get a risky fire raging through a moorland in Hoog Soeren quickly under control on Sunday evening.
On Monday afternoon a fire started in a physiotherapy practice in de Pijp, next to the photo studio of Erwin Olaf, a famous photographer. The websites of RTV Noord-Holland and AT5 show black clouds of smoke above the area in Amsterdam.
