The punishment for fraud with newer payment methods such as banking apps and Tikkie will increase, according to a legislative proposal Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security is working on. Those caught committing fraud with Tikkie or other apps will soon face up to six years in prison, instead of the current between one and four years.

Parliamentarian Stieneke van der Graaf called on Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security to get municipalities to arrange for their coffeeshops to ban people who do not live in the Netherlands, AD reports.

The fact that many municipalities, like the big cities, allow coffeeshops to sell to tourists makes the Netherlands "known as a country where you can use drugs and enjoy yourself", Van der Graaf said. She wants to get rid of that reputation.

According to the organizations, the police in The Hague have been ignoring signals and reports of discrimination within the police for years and that must change. Currently only perpetrators of serious violence and sex crimes are always punished with prison, and never with community service.

Violating traffic laws and rules will be more expensive next year - almost all traffic- and speeding fines are increasing. The government is implementing an "inflation correction" increase of 2.7 percent, AutoRAI.nl reports based on the government document Measures for Traffic Safety.
