Laughing gas may no longer be sold at events in Rotterdam or on and around the Nesselande beach in the city. Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb amended a police regulation to make this ban possible. It takes effect immediately, NOS reports.

Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security wants to eradicate child pornography on the internet. For that reason he is working on a new law under which internet companies who do not remove child porn at lightning speed, can face hefty fines, RTL Nieuws reports.

"It is certainly an enormous ambition, but I m going to do everything I can about it", the Justice Minister said. "I cannot guarantee an internet without child pornography, but I want to substantially reduce the share of child pornography on the internet in two years."

The main goal of the app, which was to be launched in the spring of 2017, was to send callers' locations directly to the emergency services without the caller having to give the address. The Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, wants Minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus of Justice and Security to create a legislative proposal to ban gay conversion therapy. Parliamentarians called such "cures"' for one's sexuality "indigestible" and "harmful", the Telegraaf reports.

This VVD proposal got support from a majority in the Kamer, including from the D66, GroenLinks, SP and PvdA. Christian parties CDA, ChristenUnie and SGP, and populists PVV and FvD voted against.

Under the new law you can be punished both if you know the other person did not want to have sex, and if you could have known that. The President of the Tweede Kamer, Khadija Arib, opened Tuesday's weekly question and answer session speaking in honor of the victims in Utrecht and also the fifty people killed in a shooting at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Police officers faced much more violence aimed against them over New Year's than the official figures show, the police's Central Works Council said after extensive investigation. Of the over 3,400 police officers that participated in the council's survey, 326 said they were confronted with one or more forms of violence, ranging from verbal threats to physical violence, ANP reports.
