Two bombs dating back to World War II were found along the A4 motorway near Schiphol Airport, newswire ANP reports. The thousand-pound American bomb and the five-hundred pound British bomb were found a few weeks ago while A9 rerouting work was ongoing, a spokeswoman for Rijkswaterstraat announced.

Two men gave a policeman last Tuesday a plastic bag with a grenade in the middle of the street. The shocked policeman immediately put the bag safely away and informed the bomb squad.
The two men reported to the police that they have found the grenade in the surrounding of Beek, Limburg. It is most possible a grenade from WWII, which didn’t go off. They wanted to hand over the explosive to the police and therefore gave the plastic bag with grenade to the policeman.
