A group of water engineers, led by Dutch engineering firm Grontmij, has come up with a plan to prevent the refugee camp in the South Sudanese town Bentiu turning into a swamp during the raining seasons. The project is estimated to cost 20 million euros, of which the Netherlands will contribute 5.4 million. Other financiers include the United Nations, the European Union and Switzerland.

Frontex, the agency that oversees the European Union's border control, asked the Netherlands to deploy a coast guard plane to Italy for surveillance over the Mediterranean Sea, the Royal Military Police stated on their Facebook page on Wednesday. Throughout April, the aircraft will be tasked with mapping and reporting on illegal migration flows from North Africa to Europe.

The European Union has made an 8 million-euro grant available for the expansion of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) of the institute for war, Holocaust and Genocide studies NIOD, NRC reports. NIOD is going to cooperate with institutions in Eastern and Southern Europe to proved better access to Holocuast archives.
