A 45-year-old Dutch man died in a skiing accident in France on Monday. The man was skiing outside the designated track with his son and a friend when he was hit by two avalanches. Attempts to resuscitate him were to no avail, the mountain police in Modane, Savoie said to newspaper AD.
A massive tropical storm is set to hit Thailand on Friday. The Thai weather service fears that it will be the strongest storm in 30 years and expects waves of up to 7 meters high, gusts of over 100 kilometers per hour, heavy rainfall and tidal waves. Hundreds of tourists, including some 40 Dutch, are trapped on the Thai islands, NOS reports.
A 17-year-old boy from Noord-Holland has been in custody in Spain for four months. Two underage British girls accused him of sexual assault, but no official charges have yet been filed against Charly T. The teenager himself denies the girls' accusations, AD reports.

Four Belgian men were sentenced to five years in prison for gang raping two Dutch women for hours in an Antwerp hotel in March of this year. An intoxicated Dutch man fell from a balcony in the German city of Worms. He fell 7 meters to the ground, but survived. The injured, but conscious man was taken to hospital with unknown injuries, RTL NIeuws reports.
The man was standing on a third floor balcony. He had hung his coat over the balcony's railing. When his coat fell off the railing, the man tried to grab it. He lost his balance and fell over the railing, according to the broadcaster.
His fall was partly broken by a canopy.
An 80-year-old Dutch woman died during storms on the Spanish island of Mallorca, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Wednesday evening following reports in Spanish media. The victim's family has been informed, ANP reports.
Mallorca was hit by large storms on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall caused flooding on the east of the island.
At least 10 people, including the Dutch woman, died in the severe weather. One child is still missing, according to th Spanish emergency response service.
Mallorca is a popular tourist destination.
The Norwegian police launched an investigation into the disappearance 47-year-old Arjen Kamphuis. The Dutch man was on holiday in Norway and went missing on August 20th. He was last seen in the town of Bodø, RTL Nieuws reports.
A Dutch woman was found dead in a hotel room in the T Nagar area of Chennai, India on Thursday. The young woman, identified as 24-year-old Linda Irene Heijker based on passport records, was found under mysterious circumstances, India Today reports.
The Dutch woman checked in to the hotel on Monday, introducing herself as a journalist, and told hotel staff she would be checking out on Thursday morning, according to the newspaper. When she hadn't checked out of her room by 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, hotel workers opened her room with a duplicate key and found her dead.
At least 11 hikers were killed in a sudden flood in the southern Italian region of Calabria. They were in the Raganello gorge when a river overflowed due to heavy rainfall. Local reports say that one Dutch was injured, NOS reports.
Many of the hikers were dragged along by the strong currents. The victims include at least four men and four women. Two people are still missing. 23 people were brought to safety, of whom seven were taken to hospital.

Gerben Eskes from Zutphen was killed in a traffic accident in El Salvador during the early hours of Thursday morning. The 28-year-old man and his 25-year-old girlfriend Anouk Mijnheer were in a taxi on their way to the airport to return home when they were hit by a car driving on the wrong side of the road, their families confirmed to De Stentor.
Two Dutch who assaulted a waiter in Prague in April, may face longer prison sentences. The Public Prosecutor in the Czech Republic is charging them with attempted murder, which means they can face up to 18 years in prison, NOS reports.

The body of Mattijn Lahuis was found in a river in the jungle of Laos on Friday. The 30-year-old man from Amsterdam went missing after a kayaking accident on the river on Monday. The Dutch tourist drowned, his family confirmed to newspaper AD.
Lahuis' body was found in the river Nam Tha, a few dozen kilometers downstream from where the kayaking accident happened. His eldest brother identified the body.
Two Dutch were killed in accidents abroad on Friday. A Dutch woman died in the west of Canada after she fell into a river. And a Dutch man died in Croatia after falling from a wall, ANP reports.
The victim in Canada is a woman of around 60 years old. According to local media, her husband stated that she slipped while trying to grab an apple and disappeared under water. A search was launched for the woman, and her body was found in the river by rescue workers a few hours later. A Dutch-speaking police officer and the Dutch consulate provided assistance for the victim's husband.
Wilma Kippers from Wierden was killed in an accident with a quad bike on the Greek island of Santorini on Tuesday. The 26-year-old woman was on vacation on the island with a friend. The two had hired a quad bike shortly before the accident, De Gelderlander reports.

Dutch holidaymakers abroad were massively hit by car troubles over the weekend. The ANWB support centers were flooded with calls about punctures, overheated engines, broken batteries and other car related problems, RTL Nieuws reports.
The ANWB support center in Lyon received 1,600 calls on one day. "A huge number. It is clear to see that the whole of the Netherlands is on holiday", an ANWB spokesperson said to the broadcaster.
By far the most reports came from France, followed by Italy an Germany. The offices in the Netherlands are also running at full speed.
