The 33-year-old man from Syria is suspected of participating in a terrorist organization, and involvement in attacks in Syria with many fatalities.

On Saturday coalition party CDA announced that the party wants to extend the children's pardon, joining the D66 and ChristenUnie who have been calling for this for some time. The VVD is now the only one of the four coalition parties who wants to stick to the agreement made in the Rutte III coalition agreement, which states that the previous government's children's pardon will remain unchanged, the Volkskrant reports.

Turkey deported Financieele Dagblad correspondent Ans Boersma on Thursday. According to the newspaper, the Turkish authorities gave no official explanation for the deportation, only saying the journalist had to leave for "safety-related reasons". 

The 31-year-old journalist received her Turkish press card for the year last week, according to the newspaper. She arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday morning, and went to the immigration service to extend her residency permit. At the police station she was told that she was to be deported.

Last year 360 asylum seekers, including 210 children, disappeared from asylum shelters in the Netherlands. That's a 20 percent increase compared to 2017, the Volkskrant reports based on figures from the central agency for the reception of asylum seekers COA.

The increase is even more striking, because the residents of the six locations that offer shelter to families who did not get asylum also decreased this past year, from 1,770 to 1,300, according to the newspaper.

Fourof the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPWC) on April 13th. Instead of being arrested and entering the Dutch system, they were deported to Moscow that same day. A 4-year-old girl brought to the Netherlands in 2016 will not be deported to Liberia. Her lawyer told RTL Nieuws that the young girl was approved for a residence permit.

Now living in Waddinxveen, Dekontee "Deedee" Elisha Grigsby was originally born in England. Custody was given to her great-grandmother, a Dutch national, with her mother unable to provide care. After her birth, the girl was brought to Liberia, where the family has roots.

An Armenian mother was deported from the Netherlands on Monday without her children Howick (12) and Lily (11). The family lived in the Netherlands for nine years. According to children's rights organization Defense for Children, this is the first time ever that a mother was deported without her kids. "Horrible", the organization said, according to RTL Nieuws.

Over the first five moths of this year the Ministry of Security and Justice deported 480 migrants who were convicted of a crime. Among them were 60 Albanians, 60 Surinamese, 50 Algerians and 50 Moroccans, a spokesperson for the ministry confirmed to NU.nl after reports in AD.

The Ministry's figures show that the proportion of criminal migrants that were forced to leave the Netherlands increased every year since 2011. In that year 72 percent of this group were deported, now it is 80 percent.

Dutch man Len van Heest, who was deported form Canada on Monday after living there all 59 years of his life, arrived at Schiphol around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. He was met by the Salvation Army and a cousin, who will help him find his way in the Netherlands, AD reports.

Canada is working on deporting 59-year-old Dutch born Len van Heerst after the man lived his entire life in the country. The reason for his imminent deportation is a criminal record he built in his youth. Van Heerst does not speak Dutch and doesn't know anyone in the Netherlands and is therefore turning to court to fight his deportation, NOS reports.

Van Heerst emigrated from the Netherlands to Canada with his mother Trixie when he was 8 months old. His mother never applied for Canadian citizenship for him. According to her, she "forgot" to do so.

While the deportion of failed asylum seekers is still a slow and often difficult process, the Netherlands is very successful in deporting immigrants after they committed a crime, according to figures from the Ministry of Security and Justice, AD reports.

In 2011 the Netherlands deported 72 percent of immigrants that committed a crime - 570 of the 795 persons. This year the government already deported 80 percent of the total - 870 of the 1,120 person.
