From today French thriller Elle by director Paul Verhoeven will be showing again in seven cinemas in the Netherlands, distributor Independent Films announced. Cinemas in Haarlem, Den Bosch, Zwolle, Enschede, Amsterdam, Breda and Hoorn all requested a copy of the film after Ell was awarded two Golden Globes, NU.nl reports.

Elle won the Golden Globe for best foreign film and leading lady Isabelle Huppert won for best actress.

During Christmas and New Year's insurance companies in the Netherlands receive on average double the number of claims as on ordinary days, according to figures from the Dutch Association of Insurers. However, for the third year in a row there was a decrease in the number of burglary claims last year, AD reports.

Last year there wre some 38 thousand burglaries across the country, compared to 45 thousand in 2014. That is a decrease of about 18 percent. Compared to 2013, the number of burglary claims submitted per day halved from 250 to 125.

This year Den Bosch dedicated the entire year to locally born artist Hieronymus Bosch. During the year 1.3 million people visited the city. A small 422 thousand people from 81 different countries visited the Hieronymus Bosch - visions of a genius exhibition in the Noordbrabants Museum, Omroep Brabant reports.

The year of Hieronymus Bosch came to an official end on Sunday, with a party on the Wilhelminaplein. There was music and fireworks and the unveiling of the so-called Bosch Beast, a massive metal owl.

The Noordbrabants Museum in Den Bosch acquired a watercolor by Vincent van Gogh titled "The Rectory Garden in Nuenen ", the museum announced. The museum calls it the "most important purchase ever", though the price paid for the painting was not disclosed, Omroep Brabant reports

The watercolor is Van Gogh's first experiment with walking figures. It shows couples wandering around the garden. According to the museum, the watercolor gives a good overview of Van Gogh's Brabant period.

The police discovered a hand grenade, two firearms and drugs in the home of a Satudarah member in Den Bosch on Tuesday, the Public Prosecutor announced. The 21-year-old man and his 21-year-old girlfriend were arrested and will be arraigned on Friday.

The Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain decided not to lend two paintings to the Noordbrabants Museum in s-Hertogenbosch for its Hieronymus Bosch exhibition. The Prado Museum decided to go back on its agreement to lend the two paintings because it is furious that Dutch experts judged them to be replica's, instead of works done by Bosch himself
