In a court hearing on Wednesday it was revealed that Michael P., the suspect in Anne Faber's murder case, admitted to kidnapping, raping and murdering the young woman. Faber was reported missing from Utrecht on September 29, the same day P. said he killed her.

The news was disclosed by the Public Prosecutor during a pre-trial hearing in the case against P. The 27-year-old is from from Zeewolde, where Faber's body was found.

A 21-year-old man from Wijchen was sentenced to six years of imprisonment at a bar in Nijmegen. He will also have to pay financial compensation to the victims of 20,000 euros each.

On Wednesday the court in Leeuwarden acquitted 40-year-old Cafer G. on appeal. G. was perviously convicted for killing 45-year-old Michael de Vrieze from Burum in 2010. His body was never found. The Leeuwarden court ruled that there is not enough evidence to prove murder, ANP reports.

De Vrieze disappeared from his Groningen home in 2010. The police eventually concluded that he had been murdered there, according to the news wire. G. was also staying in the home at the time. And blood from the victim was later found in the home.

The court in The Hague on appeal again convicted former VVD politician Jos van Rey of corruption, ballot fraud, leaking confidential information, and money laundering on Wednesday. He was given a suspended prison sentence of one year, and is not allowed to work in an administrative office of the government for two years, RTL Nieuws reports.

The Public Prosecutor demanded two years in prison and a ban on working in politics for three years against the 72-year-old man.

The Amsterdam Cheese Company took the municipality of Amsterdam to court over the city's decision to ban the opening of new tourist shops in Amsterdam Centrum. Due to this ban, the newly opened Amsterdam Cheese Company store on Damrak has to close. The cheese company hopes that the court will prevent this closure when it rules next month.

The Public Prosecutor demanded 18 years in prison against former tennis coach Mark de J. for the murder of businessman Koen Everink in his Bilthoven home in March last year. According to De J.'s lawyer, Bob Kaarls, the Prosecutor was selectively blind when investigating Everink's murder. With the opening of its first fast charging station for electric cars, Dutch oil giant Shell is now also a player in the electric vehicle market. Fastned, a company that already opened 63 fast charging stations in the Netherlands, believes that shell is being favored and is therefore taking the company to court, NOS reports.

"It starts with Shell simply selling electricity on the permit they have to sell fuel", Fastned CEO Michiel Langezaal said to the broadcaster. "We find that strange. We as electricity provider can't just sell gasoline. We're going to court."

On Monday the court in Utrecht sentenced a man from Lelystad to 40 hours of community service, 20 of which conditionally suspended, for posting discriminatory comments on a Facebook post by activist group Kick Out Zwarte Piet, RTL Nieuws reports.

After the national arrival of Sinterklaas in Meppel in 2015, the man wrote under the Kick Out Zwarte Piet post: "Just let them work as slave again then they can't complain anymore it's what they want to work out lazy sweat nigger that's what you are born for", according to the broadcaster.

A 14-year-old boy was convicted and sentenced to one year in a youth detention facility for his role in the death of Romy Nieuwburg, a girl his age from Hoevelaken. The teen boy was also ordered to spend mandatory time in a psychiatric facility, which can be extended to a maximum of seven years.

The sentence is the harshest available for the conviction of a suspect under 16 years of age. It is equivalent to what the prosecutor in the case sought against the Lunteren boy.

Dutch jihad suspect (21) was sentenced to two years in prison by a Rotterdam court on Monday, of which thirteen months may be served out on probation. Since she has already spent one year in remand, she will not have to return to prison. The punishment is lower than what the Public Prosecutor had originally demanded.

Beer bikes are no longer allowed in Amsterdam city center. On Tuesday afternoon the court ruled that the city is allowed to ban beer bikes from the city center, and Amsterdam implemented that ban on Wednesday, Het Parool reports.

An 8-year-old boy who was found emaciated and neglected on a campground in Winterswijk in July, was beaten, tied up and locked in a chest, the Public Prosecutor revealed in a pro-forma hearing against the boy's parents on Tuesday. The boy's father partly confessed to the abuse, AD reports. 

The court in Zutphen decided that both parents will stay in custody for the time being, and that they will go to the Pieter Baan Center for psychiatric evaluations. The couple is accused of abuse and unlawful deprivation of liberty.

Thi H., a 28-year-old woman suspected of arson and murder in an Amersfoort house fire that , will stay in custody. In court on Tuesday H.'s lawyer called for her immediate release, arguing that the police's use of an informant to get her confession, was in violation of her human rights, AD reports.
