After a year of difficult negotiations, a collective bargaining agreement was reached for primary education. The trade unions and employers agreed on a 4.5 percent wage increase for all teaching staff. They will also receive a once-off payment of 33 percent of their monthly wage and a once-off amount of 875 euros, education union AOb announced.

Negotiations between trade unions and employers for a new collective bargaining agreement for primary education stalled on Wednesday evening, union AOb and employers' organization PO-Raad announced on Thursday. The unions regarded the employers' offer of a just under 3 percent wage increase as too low, NU.nl reports.

General hospitals throughout the Netherlands are running on so-called Sunday service today as hospital workers strike for better employment conditions. Only emergency care will still be provided. According to the trade unions, around 75 percent of all general hospital employees will strike at 119 locations.

The university hospitals are not participating in this strike, because they fall under a different collective bargaining agreement.

Nine out of ten hospitals in the Netherlands will be taking part in a strike for a better collective labor agreement on November 20th. A total of 82 hospitals and rehabilitation centers responded to the trade unions' call to strike. Employees of university hospitals will not participate because they fall under a different collective agreement, NU.nl reports.

KLM ground crew personnel at Schiphol will strike for the third time in two weeks on Wednesday afternoon. The Dutch airline canceled 12 European return flights as a precaution and expects that the strike will result in delays. Dutch employees can look forward to higher-than-expected wage increases next year, according to calculations from employers' association AWVN based on the collective bargaining agreements that have already been reached, Financieele Dagblad reports.

Central planning office CPB expected a wage increase in the market sector of 2.5 percent next year. But based on the multi-year collective bargaining agreements already reached in the market sector, AWVN calculates a wage increase of 3.3 percent for next year.

KLM ground crew workers are on strike between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. this morning. During that time, KLM will take no hold baggage on board. The airline also canceled a total of 16 flights - nine departures and seven arrivals. All canceled flights are flights within Europe, according to flight information from Schiphol.

KLM ground crew employees will strike again on Wednesday, union FNV announced. Like Monday, they will not perform their duties between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

On Monday, around 500 workers of the Dutch airline's ground crew went on strike. This resulted in KLM having to cancel a total of 67 flights, only 11 of which the airline announced in advance.

KLM canceled a total of 11 departures and 10 arrivals at Schiphol airport on Monday due to a strike by the Dutch airline's ground crew. All flights are within Europe. 

The strike is happening between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. due to a conflict over a collective bargaining agreement. Union FNV wants an 8 percent wage increase over two years, a less flexible roster for ground crew, and for KLM to give more of its ground crew employees a permanent contract, according to NU.n. During negotiations, KLM did not agree to any of these demands.

Schiphol Airport security workers will be allowed to walk off the job in rotation on Sunday, a court in Haarlem ruled on Friday. Airport officials and unionized private security workers faced off on the use of labor actions to voice the FNV union’s concerns about any new security firms contracted by the airport.

Starting at 7:30 a.m. half of the workers screening passengers and their hand luggage in any given line will stop working every 30 minutes. This will continue over the course of twelve hours.

The KLM staff who provide on-flight catering are performing labor actions on Thursday. This could have consequences for KLM passengers - flights may be delayed or have no food on board.

The labor actions involve staff of KLM Catering Services (KCS), a subsidiary of the airline. KCS employees are dissatisfied with the progress of a new collective bargaining agreement for the catering sector, which also covers them.

Trade union FNV is not allowed to organize any strikes at PostNL in the coming weeks, the court in The Hague ruled in summary proceedings filed by the Dutch postal service, NOS reports.

PostNL argued that strikes during the busy Christmas period would cause "disproportionate damage and risks". Strikes would result in millions of euros of damages and severely affect customers waiting for mail and parcels, according to the company.

PostNL is going to court to try and ban a Christmas strike announced by trade union FNV. The Dutch postal service believes that a strike in the Christmas period - PostNL's busiest period of the year - will cause disproportionate damage to customers and PostNL itself, AD reports.

Despite a court previously banning the Irish budget airline from using other pilots during the strike, two Ryanair flights took off from Eindhoven Airport on Friday morning, NU.nl reports.

The airline canceled a total of 190 flights for Friday, including at least 22 to and from Eindhoven Airport. Some 4 thousand Dutch passengers will be affected, Eindhovens Dagblad reports.

The Dutch police unions are calling on their members to only respond to emergency reports in the weekend of September 14th to 16th, and to perform no other of their duties. This forms part of long ongoing labor actions for a better collective bargaining agreement for the police, NOS reports.

This is the most severe labor action ever taken by the police, a spokesperson for the unions said to NOS. "But we have to take this step. If noting changes now, we will soon not be able to be there when citizens need us." The action will have major consequences, according to the unions.

Train travelers entering the city center get the warning that they're doing so at their own risk, because fewer police officers are working there this morning. Banners with the same warning are hung along roads toward the city center, the Telegraaf reports.

People traveling through Utrecht Central Station on Monday morning should take delays into account due to police officers protesting for a better collective bargaining agreement, according to the police unions. Between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., the police will construct cordons around the station in a labor action they call "danger zone", NU.nl reports.

Travelers will only be able to enter and leave the station through these cordons. This will cause delays, according to police unions ACP, NPB, ANPV an VMHP.
