The growth in sales of sustainable heating methods is leveling off, while traditional central heating boilers are still in high demand. The share of boilers in new buildings even increased significantly, according to a report by environmental organization Natuur & Milieu and grid managers Stedin and Alliander, ANP reports.
NS wants to reduce crowds in rush hour trains by making train tickets for outside rush hour cheaper. That will cost 35 million euros that NS does not have. CEO Roger van Boxtel is therefore turning to the government, RTL Nieuws reports.
Passengers that travel outside rush hour should pay 40 percent less for their tickets, Van Boxtel thinks. This will encourage people to avoid trains during their busiest point and thereby result in a better distribution of passengers.
Nearly all shareholders of Shell voted against a resolution by action group Follow This on Tuesday. The resolution called on Shell to impose stricter environmental targets. Almost 95 percent of the cast votes were against the resolution, ANP reports.
With the new Dutch government's plans, the Netherlands can reach about half of the climate goals set in the Paris climate agreement, according to an analysis by living environment planning office PBL. In order to achieve all the goals in the Paris Agreement, which is aimed at limiting global warming to less than 2 degrees, the government must make additional agreements with the Dutch industry, the PBL says, ANP reports.
