The opposition parties PVV and CDA want explanations from Minister Stef Blok (Housing) regarding the energy label that has been mandatory when selling a home since January 1st. This is in response to reports in De Telegraaf, which reported that many complained about the label and that there is a deliberate unfavorable assessment of houses that should induce people to insulate their homes better.

The PvdA wants Defense to eventually replace to four Navy submarines and buy new ones. Parliament Member Angelien Eijsink said this in Trouw today. Coalition partner VVD as well as CDA have long been advocates for this.

New legislation that would put a restrictive cap on the amount of cash bankers may collect in bonuses missed its proposed January 1 start date when last minute questions were asked by senators of coalition leader VVD. The law was previously lauded by coalition partner PvdA, the Dutch labour party, which has been at odds with the VVD after a health care bill failed to pass a Senate vote.

Minister Henk Kamp of Economic Affairs announced on Tuesday that the Cabinet will further reduce the gas extraction in Groningen. A maximum of 39.4 billion cubic meters of gas may be extracted from the gas field in Groningen in 2015, previously it was 42.5 billion cubic meters. This is a reduction of about 7 percent.
