A large number of parliamentarians are hesitating over extending the UN mission in Mali. They are concerned over a lack of air support to the Dutch troops there as there will be no access to fighting helicopters between March 1st and May 1st, the Volkskrant reports.

While the Netherlands often goes farther than neighboring countries in the field of counterterrorism measures, many anti-terror laws are still waiting to be implemented, according to Dutch parliamentarians. This needs to change as soon as possible, was the sentiment in the Tweede Kamer during a debate on the attack in Berlin on Monday, the Telegraaf reports.

The Tweede Kamer is the lower house of Dutch parliament.

A proposal by VNL to scrap the ban on group defamation, hate speech and discrimination from the Penal Code was rejected by a majority in Dutch parliament on Thursday. A large majority of the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, found the proposal not well thought out as it opens the door to discrimination directed at vulnerable groups such as Jews, Muslims, women, LGBT and disabled people, NU.nl reports.

Christian party CDA's plan to close down The Hague's led right district on Doubletstraat seems to be getting closer to a reality. Foundation Non Nobis wants to move the prostitution zone, according to Den Haag FM.

"Non Nobis wants to put down a building where all sex workers - preferably also those on Geleenstraat - can offer their services in a transparent and secure environment", CDA leader in The Hage Daniell Koster said to the broadcaster.

A majority in parliament thinks that parents have the right to know if their kids are attending daycare with children and babies that haven't been vaccinated. Then parens can decide whether they want to take the risk of infectious disease or move theri child elsewhere, AD reports.

The PvdA, CDA, D66, GroenLinks and PVV all voted in favor of this proposal. They are concerned because fewer people are vaccinating their children.

Animal party PvdD wants to close zoos as one point in its campaign for the elections in March next year. According to the party, zoos are no longer of this time and should only be a temporary residence for animals, RTL Nieuws reprots.

The party writes that "exhibiting animals" in too small cages is outdated. In this time animals should live in their original habitat. The PvdD also statest aht the old argument of breeding programs at zoos is no longer relevant. According to the paryt, zoos only breed animals because baby animals attract extra visitors.

The Dutch government is running out of time for finding a solution on what to do about ratifying the associatioin agreement between the European Union and Ukraine. The deadline is November 1st. And it doesn't seem likely that a decision will be made on Friday, NU.nl reports.

"Today and in the coming days we are considerably going to talk about it", Minsiter Bert Koenders said, according to NU. "We still have a few days. We'll try to find a solution to the last moment."

According to the parties, Rutte was not transparent in his information and a series of incidents invovling the royals is bad for support of the monarchy, NU.nl reports.

The Dutch government wants to adjust the Euthanasia Act so that people who aren't sick, but feel that their life is completed, can end their lives with assisted suicide. This will only be allowed under "strict and rigorous criteria", the government wrote to parliament. The majority of parliamentarians support the plan.

Most Dutch parliamentarians support a plan to increase the maximum age for IVF treatments from 43 years to 50 years. Only the small Christian parties are still objecting, Trouw reports. 

The maximum age for IVF treatment in the Netherlands is currently 43 years old. But according to Minister Edith Schippers of Public Health, doctors believe that IVF is possible up to the age of 50 without taking irresponsible medical risks. Fifty is also the age in the new doctor's guideline.
