Apenheul welcomed a new species of monkey this week. The zoo is now home to two bearded saki monkeys, making Apenheul one of only four zoos in all of Europe where these rare monkeys can be seen, De Stentor reports.
Bearded sakis can be recognized by their beard and thick tail. The two male bearded sakis now living in Apenheul come from Belfast and Colchester. They are still getting used to their new home in the Dutch zoo. One has already been spotted outside on the Wolapeneiland several times, the other is still a little shy.
