The first team of VV Stanfries from Appelscha, Friesland, decided not to play against Aengwirden on Sunday because one of the Aengwirden players is a convicted murderer. The football club therefore ended the Sunday football season in fifth class, RTL Nieuws reports.

According to Dagblad van het Noorden, the player involved strangled then 19-year-old Tessa Klaver to death in 2008. He was sentenced on appeal to eight years in prison.

The court in Leeuwarden has found Doede de Jong, the 66 year old marijuana farmer from Appelscha, guilty of illegal cannabis cultivation in the appeal on Thursday. He did not, however, get any form of punishment. The Public Prosecutor demanded 180 hours of community service and a conditional prison sentence of two months against him.

The body of 52-year-old Thea Oosting from Ravenswoud, who went missing on February 17, was found Tuesday afternoon in a ditch between the fields near the Meester Lokstraat. A passer-by spotted the body and notified the police.

A body, found in the fields near Ravenswoud in Friesland, could belong to Thea Oosting, who has been missing since February 17, according to police. The area has been shut off for investigation of trace evidence.
