The exhibition on royal inaugurations, which shows in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, has attracted about 3700 visitors in its first opening weekend . This was reported by a spokeswoman of the exhibition. Last Saturday the exhibition opened its doors.

‘A beautiful weekend. We are very satisfied,’  said the spokeswoman.

The exhibition is about the inaugurations of seven generations of the Orange family and will last for exactly 100 days.

Mayor Eberhard van der Laan of Amsterdam said on Thursday in the Nieuwe Kerk, that the arrest of two activists on Dam Square during the abdication and inauguration is 'a serious matter'.

"It was an obvious mistake," said Van der Laan. "It was a very unfortunate combination of things. Demonstrations and freedom of expression are fundamental rights. If something goes wrong there, it hurts us very much.”

Prime Minister Mark Rutte awarded on Thursday afternoon the first seven medals to persons who actively contributed to the smooth running of the inauguration. The medal is a tangible reminder of King Willem-Alexander's ascension to the throne.

Rutte presented the medals to representatives of emergency services, civil servants, police, military, volunteers and others. The Prime Minister handed out the medals at a meeting organized by the municipality in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. The Mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan, delivered a speech there.

Because of the inauguration, particularly the preparations for it, 70 cars have been towed in recent days in Amsterdam. The 70 cars were parked on streets that will be closed during the inauguration on Tuesday. This was disclosed by a spokesperson of the Department for City Surveillance on Monday.

The cars were mostly moved to a parking lot of the department at the Daniel Goedkoopstraat in Amsterdam-Oost. Their owners do not have to pay towing fees since they had already parked their car before the signs were placed.

'Amsterdam Zuidoost', starting May 1, 2014, will no longer be the official name for the district. Residents of Zuidoost will live from that moment on in just 'Amsterdam'.

On Tuesday, the Mayor and Aldermen decided to change the name 'Amsterdam Zuidoost'. This was done at the request of the board of the district council and the fractions of PvdA, VVD and GroenLinks.

Last week, the first cows arrived at the Tosti Factory, which manufactures all the ingredients for tosti, a toasted sandwich with ham and cheese. Dichtbij.nl. reports that neighboring citizens are not pleased with the arrival of the cows because they seem to make much noise.

Dozens of complaints have been registered by local residents at Oostenburgereiland. The Tosti Factory reports that one particular cow, called Els, is the problem. “She has just been separated from her five-month-old calf and therefore lets out her heartbreaking sound.”

Within five days, three ATMs in Amsterdam were blasted. Early Monday morning an ATM was hit in the Rijnstraat and last Thursday and Friday ATMs in Geuzenveld and Slotervaart were targeted.

At half past four on Monday morning people heard a huge bang in the Rijnstraat. Robbers tried to empty the ATM at the corner of Rijnstraat and Trompenburgstraat. In front of the bank building, a car was ablaze. The facade of the ABN-Amro Office was ruined and the ATM was completely destroyed.

About 20,000 people visited the reopened Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam on Saturday between 1:00 pm and 12:00 pm, after a reopening ceremony led by Queen Beatrix in the morning. 

On Saturday no entrance fee was raised, and visitors received a guided tour of the main highlights in the museum. The reopening was broadcast live on the channel Nederland 2 and about 1.15 million people saw the show.
