Prosecutors in the Willem Holleeder murder trial have demanded life imprisonment for the notorious defendant. A hand grenade was found in thrift store RataPlan on Van Slingelandtstraat in Amsterdam on Tuesday. The grenade was found in a box that was being unpacked by an employee. It is unclear how long the box had been in the store, Het Parool reports.
The police safely removed the explosive. According to the police, it was a real hand grenade, but it was harmless as it could no longer detonate. People living and working around the store were therefore not in danger.

A man the police found dead on Huntumdreef in Amsterdam Zuidoost on Monday night, took his own life. The police saw the man committing suicide while they were searching Maasdrielhof for suspects of a shooting that happened shortly before a kilometer away, Het Parool reports.
At around 8:15 p.m. a 50-year-old man was shot at a home on Maasdrielhof. The victim was taken to hospital and is not in life-threatening danger. Three suspects were seen fleeing the scene.
