On Tuesday the police arrested two 15-year-old boys for stabbing 15-year-old Shakil to death in Almere. Shakil's murder was the fifth deadly incident in the Netherlands this year in which the suspects are 16 years old or younger.

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Almere on Tuesday evening. Two suspects, both also aged 15, were arrested. All three teenagers are from Almere, AD reports.

The stabbing happened during the early evening on Pirellipad in Almere. A doctor gave the seriously injured boy first aid before he was rushed to a hospital, where he died of his injuries, the police said on Thursday.

The Netherlands is full of possibilities for a hyperloop test track, but Flevoland is the most suitable location, Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen wrote to the Tweede Kamer. She asked TNO to investigate the economic and social usefulness and the feasibility of testing the hyperloop in the Netherlands, and eventually building a permanent track, ANP reports.

A 14-year-old girl from Almere died on Monday from a gunshot wound she sustained in her home on Friday, the Public Prosecutor said. Two men were arrested in connection with the shooting. According to the Telegraaf, the suspects are the girl's father and brother.

A body was found in the Oostrand Park in Almere on Tuesday. Police officers were searching the park with sniffer dogs for a missing 17-year-old boy. The body has not yet been officially identified, but the police are "taking into account" that it may be the Almere teenager, the police said in a statement.

The body was found in the water of a lake in the park. A police spokesperson could say nothing about the cause of death to newspaper AD.

The Lelystad police caught a motorist driving with two large lampposts tied to the roof of his relatively small car on Tuesday. Officers could smell alcohol on the man's breath while talking to him. He refused to cooperate in a breathalyzer test and was arrested, the Lelystad police said on Facebook.

The police responded after receiving a report of the man transporting this unusual cargo between Almere and Lelystad. Officers pulled him over on Oostvaardersdijk. What exactly the man was planning to do with the lampposts is unclear.

Two people were killed in a workplace accident at Almere public transit company Connexxion on Thursday, the Social Affairs and Employment Inspectorate confirmed, RTL Nieuws reports.

The accident happened at a workshop. The two employees were working on a bus that was on a lifting bridge. The bus fell and crushed the employees. How this happened is still unclear.

The Inspectorate is investigating what happened.

According to Omroep Flevoland, the investigation is expected to take three months. Until the report is complete, no further announcements will be made.

The Amsterdam police foiled an assassination plot last week by arresting two suspects in Almere on their way to commit murder, the police said in a statement. The suspects were arrested in a car with stolen registration plates on the Hogering in Almere at around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 1st.

The police arrested four people and seized 1 million euros in cash in an investigation into providers of smartphones that encrypt communication data. Investigators believe the suspects sold these encrypted phones to criminals, RTL Nieuws reports.

The encryption makes it harder for the authorities to listen in on conversations or read text messages from a distance. This trait makes encrypted phones extremely popular among criminals who want to hide their communication from the police.

The police finally managed to identify the woman whose body washed up on the shore of the Veluwemeer on Sunday. The victim is a 43-year-old woman who lived in Almere, the police said in a statement on Thursday night. The police believe the woman was murdered and launched a large-scale investigation team to look into her death.

The PVV plans to take part in the municipal elections of 60 municipalities spread over all 12 Dutch provinces next year, party leader Geert Wilders announced in an interview with AD on Wednesday.

The party will take part in the local elections of municipalities in which the PVV has a lot of support, such as Spijkenisse, Edam-Volendam and Ruchpen and medium sized towns like Nieuwegein, Vlaardingen and Zoetermeer. The PVV will also go for municipalities where the party did well during the parliamentary election last month.

The PVV is turning its attention to local governments. Next year the anti-Islam party wants to participate in municipal elections in Rotterdam, Enschede, Almelo, Twenterand and Urk, party leader Geert Wilders announced on Twitter on Saturday. The party will also participate in The Hague and Almere. 

Until now the PVV was only represented in the city councils of The Hague and Almere, according to the Volkskrant. But in December the party announced a change in strategy. The PVV wants to be part of at least five to ten municipalities per province.

On Tuesday the police arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Jdesse Boerenveen, who was found dead in Gooimeer at Almere-Haven on December 22nd. The suspect, 46-year-old Jeffrey K., is the owner of a garage in Wormerveer where Boerenveen was held hostage and assaulted, Het Parool reports.

The police believe that more arrests may follow.

Emergency services in Almere responded en masse on Monday to rescue a seemingly mentally disturbed man who fell through the ice after walking a long distance on a lake in Almere Stad. Divers from the fire department pulled him from the water, the Telegraaf reports.

Eye witnesses told th newspaper that the man walked a long distance on the ice. When police officers called to him to come back to shore, he refused. The fire department and an air ambulance were called in.

A very busy morning rush hour is expected due to a combination of slick, icy roads and a continuing power outage in Amsterdam and surrounds. Utilities company Liander expects to have power restored completely around 8:00 a.m. 

Due to the power outage, the matrix boards around the Dutch capital are not working. "We can't put any information above the road", a spokesperson for the Dutch public works Rijkswaterstaat said to RTL. Street lights are also not working. Motorists should extra travel time into account

Taxi drivers are not supposed to interfere in the customer's choice of taxi, but the do so in Almere - threatening and intimidating each other to win a customer, according to the broadcaster.

Family members of El-Hasan D. from Amsterdam, who was convicted for involvement in the death of football linesman Richard Nieuwenhuizen in 2012, launched a fundraising campaign to help D. raise the money for the compensation he has to pay to his victim's family. D. has to pay some 60 thousand euros in compensation, Het Parool reports.
