The driver of the monster truck that fatally drove into the crowd during an automotive show in Haaksbergen could soon be back in his vehicle. The truck, however, is not yet being returned to stuntman Mario D., but to the Waarborgfonds Motorverkeer (Motor Traffic Guarantee Fund), determined a court in Almelo. The stuntman was also responsible for a poorly executed stunt which led to the injury of a young girl.

Two men were in police custody on Sunday suspected of assaulting a pair of NS train workers protecting a female passenger. The men, aged 20 and 30, are accused of first harassing a woman at the Rijssen station and on the train to Almelo, then attacking the train conductor that assisted the women once in Almelo, Overijssel.

On Tuesday night two conductors were severely assaulted by two unidentified men on Almelo station. Both conductors were injured and taken to the hospital. The police are still looking for the suspects.

In the municipality of Haaksbergen, the sorrow is deep over the loss of the three victims who were killed in the monster truck rampage of last weekend. De Telegraaf writes that everyone the town, which has 24,000 residents, knew one of the victims either directly or indirectly.

One of the victims, the 5-year-old Tim, was a big fan of cars. De Telegraaf writes that he and his 8-year-old sister Marit were in the first row at the show. When the monster truck barreled into the crowd, Tim died on the spot. His sister Marit is in a coma in the hospital.

The police are looking for witnesses of the armed robbery at an ice cream parlor in Almelo and the subsequent shooting incident at the railway station where  the police shot the robber and arrested him.

Last Sunday evening the 36-year-old suspect from Enschede, armed with a knife, threatened the staff of the ice cream parlor and escaped with an unkown amount. The police searched for the criminal in the area around the crime spot and found the robber at the station. There a shooting took place and the suspect was shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A 36-year-old man was shot and injured by police at the Almelo train station Sunday evening. The alleged robber was the subject of a manhunt that ended at the station.

Train traffic to and from Almelo (Overijssel) was shut down and part of the station was closed because of the shooting. The 36-year-old suspect does not have life threatening injuries.

The suspect, a man from Enschede, is accused of raiding an ice cream parlor "IJs en Zo" in the Wierdensestraat. He is said to have threatened two staff members with a knife and then fled with the loot towards the station.
