On Saturday party leaders Alexander Pechtold (D66), Sybrand Buma (CDA), Lodewijk Asscher (PvdA), Mark Rutte (VVD), Geert Wilders (PVV) and Emile Roemer (SP) debated policy, explained what topics they find important and played games on kids TV show NOS Jeugdjournaal. 

The debate was done by means of a quartet. Each party leader could chose a theme and a topic, such as "healthcare" and "costs". And then they could briefly and simply explain what they find important on that topic.

If it is up to D66 leader Alexander Pechtold, his party's proposal for a "dignified end of life" will eventually be expanded to include people under the age of 75 years. He said this on Nieuwsuur after being confronted with a 57-year-old man who wishes to die, NOS reports.

The man wanted to know why Pechtold's party wants to implement a law that only gives people over the age of 75 the option of assisted suicide. "I have to wait 18 years. I don't want that. I want now", the man said to Pechtold.

D66 leader Alexander Pechtold called a statement made by Limburg D66 State member Hans van Wageningen about PVV leader Geert Wilders "unwise". GroenLinks leader Jesse Klaver and SP leader Emile Roemer could not agree on whether the VVD should or should not be excluded from forming a new government after the parliamentary elections on March 15th. During the first televised debate for the upcoming elections, Roemer called on Klaver to clearly state whether GroenLinks and the VVD would form a coalition. Klaver said he can not rule out that possibility, AD reports.

Broadcaster RTL decided to go through with the "Premier debate" later this month despite the RTL initially decided to cancel the election debate after Geert Wilders and Mark Rutte said they wouldn't participate. But a massive outcry from viewers and other political parties made them change their mind.

The PvdA set 5 billion euros aside for education and promises substantial salary increases for teachers and a lighter workload. The D66 assigned 4.5 billion euros to education and wants more teachers and smaller classes.

The top four positions of the D66's draft list of candidates are made up of current party leader Alexander Pechtold and three women. Number two on the list is current parliamentarian Stientje van Veldhoven, number three is Hague alderman Ingrid van Engelshoven and number four is parliamentarian Pia Dijkstra, Pechtold announced on Goedemorgen Nederland on Monday morning.

The complete draft list of candidates will be released later on Monday.

Despite criticism from parliament, Prime Minister Mark Rutte does not want to lower the income Princess Amalia will receive annually once she turns 18, RTL Nieuws reports.

Princess Amalia turns 18 in 2021. From then she will be groomed to take over from her father, King Willem-Alexander. When she goes to university, she will receive a car with a driver, a secretary and other support staff, according to RTL She will receive an annual allowance of 250 thousand euros, plus 1.2 million euros personnel and costs.

King Willem-Alexander and his predecessors were and still are compensated for the taxes they must pay on their private assets, according to research by RTL Nieuws. This started in the 70's, when it was first decided that the the ruling Royals will pay taxes on their personal assets.
