The social security at the Ministry of Defense is inadequate, concluded a committee that investigated the barracks in Schaarsbergen after soldiers who were stationed there reported being abused and sexually assaulted. The Public Prosecution Service will prosecute five former soldiers of the Airmobile Brigade at the Oranje barracks in Schaarsbergen for sexually abusing, harassing and humiliating three of their colleagues, the Telegraaf reports.
The Prosecutor refused to confirm this to NOS, because not all those involved have been informed yet.
Three soldiers accused of various forms of misconduct at the Airmobile Brigade barracks in Scaarsbergen, filed a complaint against State Secretary Barbara Visser of Defense. They believe the State Secretary already publicly condemned them, despite the investigation still being ongoing, AD reports.
Bored soldiers at the Oranje barracks in Schaarsbergen regularly entertained themselves with drugs, alcohol and even prostitutes, according to a confidential Defense report from 2015, which the Volkskrant has in its possession.
According to the report, soldiers also damaged or stole considerable amounts of Defense equipment, held 'informal hazing', and there was a high risk of bullying, exclusion and inappropriate sexual behavior.

While visiting the Brigade on Wednesday last week, Visser asked about the so-called 'tiger test' that was planned for that night. The tiger test is a hazing ritual for the Charlie- or Tiger company that involves the consumption of alcohol to turn 'cubs' into 'tigers', according to the newspaper.
