A 27-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison, six months conditionally suspended, for attempted manslaughter and aggravated assault by the court in Amsterdam. He was part of a group of four who attacked two homosexual men on the Damrak in Amsterdam in June last year, NOS reports.

A 64-year-old pastor of the PKN church in the Gelderland village of Rhenoy, was attacked in her church on Tuesday. The seriously injured woman was found lying in a pool of blood in the church on Dorpstraat and rushed to the hospital, NOS reports.
The pastor had an appointment to meet a piano tuner in the church. When she didn't return home, her roommate went to check up on her and found her lying in a pool of blood. Local residents say she was hit on the head with a hammer, though the police would not confirm that, according to the broadcaster.
A 58-year-old man from Winterswijk was seriously injured when someone attacked him with a hammer on Sunday afternoon. According to witnesses, the perpetrator hit him on the back of the head with a hammer, before fleeing in a car, AD reports.

Police took four teenaged boys into custody late Sunday in connection with the assault of two gay men in Arnhem. The victims were holding hands walking home from a party early Sunday morning when they were confronted by a group of young men shouting slurs at them.

A 21-year-old Schiedam football player was arrested on Tuesday for aggravated assault on a referee during a football match on Sunday. The player headbutted 60-year-old Rotterdam referee Henry Swenandan during a match between Steeds Hoger 3 and Kocatepe 7, AD reports.
Five minutes before the end of the match, the referee issued a red card for tackling. The football player in question was not happy and headbutted the referee.
Two Hague police officers are in the high security court at Schiphol on Monday for a pro-forma hearing in the case around the death of Aruban man Mitch Henriquez shortly after his arrest in 2015. They are facing charges of aggravated assault resulting in death, but may eventually be convicted of culpable homicide, AD reports.
On Thursday the police arrested a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam on suspicion of involvement in the aggravated assault of a gay couple in the Dutch capital in October last year, the police announced in a statement on their website.
The assault happened on Ruijterkade on October 16th. Three young men on scooters attacked the gay couple, seemingly out of nowhere. The police believe that the couple was targeted due to their sexual orientation. One of te victims sustained a fractured skull in the attack and spent some time in the hospital.
On Tuesday the Supreme Court sentenced kickboxer Badr Hari to two years in prison, 10 months conditionally suspended. The Dutch kickboxer was found guilty of various assaults, including that of now deceased businessman Koen Everink at Sensation White in Amsterdam in 2012. After Hari's time in custody is subtracted from the sentence, he still has to spend about 6 months in jail, NU.nl reports.
