Man found dead in Enschede home; crime suspected
A man was found dead in a home on Het Oosterveld in Enschede on Tuesday afternoon. The police believe he was killed in a crime. By Wednesday morning the house was screened off by the police, so that onlookers can't see the crime scene. Forensic investigators are at the scene, Tubantia reports.
So far nothing is known about the victim's identity or how he died.
Neighbors told Tubantia that a woman and her boyfriend have lived in the home for several years. The curtains of the home were closed the entire Tuesday. The police arrived at around 5:00 p.m., according to the neighbors, after the woman's mother entered the home. They saw her come out a short time later and making a call, presumably calling the emergency services.
A friend of the couple visited over the weekend, he said to the newspaper. They barbecued and drunk heavily, after which the couple had a serious argument, he said. Nothing is clear yet, but he fears the worst. "I really can not believe it." According to the neighbors, the couple often had fights and the police were called to their home several times. Bystanders still saw the woman on Tuesday. The man had not responded to calls for days, they said to the newspaper.
The police were at the scene through the night. The investigation continues on Wednesday.
