The Thalys train from Amsterdam to Paris was halted in Rotterdam on Wednesday morning, after a man "acting aggressively" caused some panic on the train, the Rotterdam police said on Twitter. "Travelers heard the man call 'Allahu Akbar', and panic broke out briefly," the police said.

A witness told broadcaster NOS that the man attacked travelers and shouted 'Allahu Akbar'. Panicked travelers tried to run to other compartments. According to the police, no one was hurt and no weapons were found.

Rotterdam will be the first large Dutch city to completely ban consumer fireworks for the coming New Year. After the "umpteenth" incidents and violence this past New Year's, the VVD in Rotterdam decided to support the ban, which means that there is majority support in the city council to prohibit the lighting of consumer fireworks, NOS reports.

A circus performer who was seriously injured on Friday after falling some 10 meters with her husband during a performance in the Carre theater, posted an update of her condition for the first time. She underwent two surgeries on her neck and is now out of intensive care. "We have not yet received a definitive diagnosis from the doctors, it will take time. But at the moment, I cannot feel my legs," she wrote on Facebook.

A boy was injured in a stabbing at a secondary vocational school in The Hague on Tuesday, the police said on Twitter.

The stabbing happened at the ROC Mondriaan on Neckar, according to RTL Nieuws.

A police spokesperson could not tell the broadcaster how seriously the boy was hurt or whether anyone was arrested. 

The police are investigating.

The police pulled over a motorist in Waalwijk on Sunday to reprimand him for a dirty license plate, only to end up arresting him on suspicion of drug dealing. The officers found 67 bags of cocaine in a hidden area of the car. The 23-year-old man from Den Bosch's driver's license had also been suspended, the police said in a statement.

The officers noticed the car on Taxandriaweg in Waalwijk because its license plate was so dirty that it couldn't be read. They decided to pull the car over for a check.
