According to the first preliminary figures of the police, there were fewer incidents during this New Year's than last year. In 2013 the police received 8,413 reports of incidents, this year there were 8,236. This year the police made 576 arrests, compared to 824 in 2013.

Here follows a list of all the changes in law for this year, broken down into their relevant categories, according to statements released by the Dutch government, and compiled by the NL Times. As 2015 was ushered in across the Netherlands, 63 new laws and rules changes also came into effect. Amongst these are a minimum wage increase, changes to rules regarding temporary and permanent work contracts, a hike in cigarette taxes, a drop in the maximum allowable mortgage, a bumped up retirement age, and a rise in train costs.

No major incidents were reported during New Year's night. The police reports that there were some disturbances in which the mobile unit was deployed. The mobile unit was deployed in Nijmegen, Utrecht and Culemborg. Several people were also injured and there were several fires.

They Eye Hospital (Oogziekenhuis) in Rotterdam admitted 10 victims of firework injuries during New Year's. In 7 cases the injury caused permanent damage to the patient. More victims are expected in the next few days.

The elementary schools De Brinck and Jan Bluyssen on Hoogzoggel in Uden went up in flames last night. The two schools are attached to each other. The fire spread through several classrooms.
