The Netherlands has breached the European Union rules on the reception of asylum seekers, such as access for food, clothing and shelter, for undocumented adults, the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) states. A Council of Europe human rights committee must now decide whether or not it will take action against the Netherlands based on the harshly critical ECSR report, unless conditions of asylum seekers quickly improve.

Police released photos of one of the four young men who are suspected of abusing a 48-year old NS conductor on Abcoude station on April 4th. Several television programs have also released security camera footage from Holendrecht train station where the suspect was seen, police press release states.

The number of hybrid cars in the Netherlands rose by a fourfold between 2009 and 2014, reports Statistic Netherlands (CBS). There are currently 156 thousand hybrid vehicles in the country. In 2014, 30 thousand vehicles were purchased, with three-quarters of those purchased by a business.

The sinking of the fishing boat Z85 Morgenster in late January may have been caused by a collision with a freighter, the Stentor reports based on reports in the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws. Four crew members died when the ship sank.
