PVV leader Geert Wilders visits the Schilderswijk in the Hague on Tuesday. His visit is a reaction to an article which was published on Saturday in ‘Dagblad Trouw’. The newspaper concludes, from their own investigation, that a part of the Schilderswijk is developing as an enclave of orthodox muslims.

“The Schilderswijk is a neighborhood, in The Hague, where more strict religious muslims live, close to each other, than elsewhere in the city, and they want to apply the strict muslim rules to the street,” according to Trouw, and, “Non-muslims en moderate muslims suffer from this.”

A search for the two missing brothers, Julian and Ruben, by civilians in Zeist, led to much commotion when two crosses were found in the woods near Sparrenheuvel. The police shut off the area and searched the soil with prods but did not find a sign of the boys, who have been missing for more than a week. “The result was unfortunately negative,” said a spokesman of the police.

A 71-year-old man from Hardinxveld-Giessendam died in his garden on Tuesday evening . The man was driving on his lawnmower but fell together with the machine in the water.

This was reported by the police. Nothing is known about the cause and the circumstances.

One out of five students is bullied during their internship. This can be found in the National Internship Monitor 2013, which is an investigation by the Erasmus University and the Student Bureau, a search site for internships, this was reported by the AD on Wednesday.

According to the investigation, about 20 percent of the 1400 students, who were followed, were scolded, belittled or ignored. Sometimes they are also victim to abuse of authority or gossiping.

More and more Dutch hospitals remove ‘plofkip’ from te menu. Three large regional hospitals did already change to different style ckicken, six wil soon change to chicken with on the label one or two Better Life stars. This was reported by Wakker Dier.

‘Plofkip’ is a chicken who is administered a lot of antibiotics. By eating these animals, people also take these medicines in and because of that there are more resistant bacteria. This can be a threat to public health.

State Secretary Frans Weekers of Finance has survived the debate about the fraud on benefits. The motion of no confidence against Weekers, submitted by the opposition parties CDA, SP, D66, GroenLinks, PVV, 50Plus and the Party for the Animals, didn’t make it. VVD, PvdA, SGP and ChristenUnie didn’t support the motion.

According to CDA MP Pieter Omzigt has Weekers downplayed the fraud on benefits and can the relationship with the employees at the IRS best be described as a disturbed relationship.

On the first day of the final exams for the high schools, National Action Committee Students (LAKS) has received more than 21,000 complaints. This was published on their site for complaints. The VWO Dutch exam received most complaints, a staggering 15,000.

“The subject Dutch seems to be again the problematic one. The students thought it was unclear and difficult. The same happened last year,” a spokesman of LAKS said.
